Jeff,
Glad you posted this. I did not know they were making the shorter mags. Great news (I hate the bulky 10rnder).
I did the same COAL mod on my 10rd AcMag but with a dremil tool. Super easy. However, I had to do another mod to the AcMag when I got it. Not sure if the ears where bent to much (more than should have been) or what, but the catch was too high on mine. When loaded mag inserted, the bolt would go over the round & not pick it up. If you pushed up on the mag it would work great. I had to grind off the teflon & weld a bead under the catch, file it off flat (adding ~ 1/16" to the catch). Now it runs great (slow, super slow, fast, stressing; always smooth as butter) but wondering if anybody else had this problem ever? I tried it in a M5 Badger & a APA dbm (same with both)... Shouldn't have to "fix" a $80 magazine but...

That's not an issue for me. I would have been totally satisfied with a flush-fitting mag of that length that held 3 rounds.
I'm with you on mag capacity. Still, for the size of a 5rd 308 (.473") box you would expect more (at very least same) capacity for the .378" round. I really like the plastic inset in the mag but wish they would have tapered it to near double stack as goes down in mag (similar to the AICS). Of course maybe that gave feeding issues; but less capacity is same size mag just sounds crazy...
Also, not sure when he will have them, but Curtis custom is working on a flush fit 223 mag. The Flush 3 rounders in 308 are available & a VERY nice mag. The feed lips are machined, not stamped. They feed super well. Wish he would make some 10 round. I would throw my AICS to the dogs...
