Accurate rifle help please.........

Long time no seeeeeeeee BeeeeeeeeeCeeeeeeeeeeeeeBeeeeeeeeeeeeee. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif I've owned more than one of all of the rifles mentioned here, and will tell you Sako is consistently more accurate than the rest, as well as more refined. It is also the most expensive. Tikkas and Savages are next in the accuracy dept., although the Tikkas are a little nicer rifles. Cz makes some tack-drivers, and some beautiful rifles, but you would probably stand a better chance of getting a ho-hum rifle from them. You must understand that the rifles mentioned here vary from lightweights to heavyweights. If you are planning on carrying it around much, some of them are unacceptably heavy for this. You will not get your best long-range groups from a pencil-barreled gun, nor will you want to carry a benchrest-weight rifle in the field. Just something to consider--2MG

Dan N.--What kind of groups are those? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Buy a Sako and you'll have to lift the dime to see the holes--2MG /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey, 2MG:

I had to spend two weeks in Wyo. and SD visiting realtives....and shooting a few PD's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We're on the way home now, but I haven't been hittin' the computer too hard the past 15 days or so. - BCB

I own a couple of out-of-the-box Tikka's that will consistently and totally out-shoot a Savage BVSS which I no longer own. It wasn't even close.

After reading all the hype about them, it was among the bigger disappointments in factory rifles that I have ever purchased. It shot like crap, fouled badly, and the stock looked like it was carved from a warped 2X4 in a beginners shop class.

Do you suppose they all make bad ones occasionally? Even with the "perfect" Savage, its a crap shoot when you buy a factory rifle today. I have seen a couple of others recently in addition to the one I purchased that Savage surely isn't proud to have their name on.

Just my experience. - BCB

Stock Savage 93R17-GV (only a $190.00 gun) with a Bushnell Banor............factory trigger. Shot off some cheap left over bags at the range by myself. 100 yards / 5 shot group
I am not a "one brand loyal" type......but this little Savage .17 Hummer shoots o.k. for me. It shoots o.k. and the wood stock and finish is fine, the trigger is about 4 1/2 #'s with some wobble and I may replace it. I think manufactures have their niche shooters with'in a series(certain calibers) but not all the series or all their calibers are tight group shooters..........but, that's just me.
