Achieving OAL Consistency

PITA no, as long as you aren't using a progressive press, but who loads for utmost accuracy with a progressive? I've loaded more than 5K rifle rounds that way. Weighing each charge by hand is a lot worse than rotating a case.

Better to find as many sources of the problem, of course and this is one of them, there is absolutely no way to set your bullet into the neck perfectly concentric before seating. So no matter how perfectly concentric your equipment is the bullet is starting out far from concentric, if you seat it in a few passes with rotation it gives your perfect equipment more leverage to do it's job as good as possible. And if your equipment is far from concentric this method wont do a whole lot of good anyways.

And concentricity will have a small effect on OAL.

My apologies to the op and everyone in this thread. Being the stubborn person I am, I had to prove to myself I wasn't just imagining things. Well, I wasn't imagining things, I was just wrong. Closer inspection of my loaded rounds and other primered cases did show the primer slightly below flush. It wasn't my intent to spew useless information, just trying to help. Might finally be time to get some glasses.
