ACOG for Coyote's

I went with the Red Chevron as well, thinking the top point would be the most precise for aiming. It really works great and I have my rifle sighted in at 100 yards usint the top point of the chevron as POI.
Dont hunt at night so no experience with the red light/red chevron. I know that I can hunt at night without a light in open fields with a full moon. You can see the chevron perfectly.

For me, I live in Minnesota, so on a cold cold winter day, the heat coming off my eye alone being so close to the lens makes it frost up. Also the field of view is so-so. I feel the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 is a better way to go on a calling rifle. Indestructible like the ACOG, but with variable power, better eye relief, better field of view, adjustable target turrets, (opinion) a little better glass. Also they are relativaly priced the same, pending on features.

Nightforce is one of the top two or three scopes on the market right now, but it's not the absolute end all cure all scope that you make it out to be. I will agree that the eye relief is a little tight on ACOGs, but thats how I was trained, nose to charging handle, so the eye relief doesn't bother me. I've read other people claim that the FOV on the ACOGS aren't very good, but when you look at the specs, it just isn't true.

ACOG TA31F (4 power scope) 36.8ft @ 100 yds

Burris MTAC 1-4 power 100-20ft @ 100yds

Nightforce 2.5x10x32 44-11ft @ 100 yds.

One day I'll end up upgrading to a Nightforce from my Zeiss, but that'll be awhile, at least until I get this MATEN that I want built.

Since my last post Ive bought a TA33-8 amber ret. I have hunted at night using red lense and have NO problems seeing at night Reid.

Anyone tried using an Aimpoint or other red dot sight on coyotes? I've got an Aimpoint M4 on my AR carbine, and I'm thinking it might work pretty well.

So wouldn't you agree that the NF @ 2.5X has over a 7ft. field of view advantage over the ACOG ?

To keep it as close to apples to apples, what FOV is the NF at 4x, like the quoted ACOG?

Sure does, at 2.5x vs the ACOG at 4x. When you do the math, it works out that the ACOG has a better FOV than the Nightforce at 4x.
