Added another .22 Mag Semi-auto to my collection

Stopped in a pawn shop yesterday and found a Marlin 922 .22 Mag semi with Simmons scope for $250.00,plus tax. Couldn't walk a way, so I bought it. In pretty good condition, but very dirty. Don't think it was ever cleaned. I had about 1/2 of a box of Federal 50 gr JHP bullets loose in my Samurai glove box, so I stopped in at the county range on the way home. Fifteen shots, no malfunctions and it was zero. No rest or anything just elbows on the shooting bench. The Simmons scope and see thru ironsighter rings have to go though! The barrel is now soaking with bore cleaner. I completely disassembled the gun to clean it, even the trigger group. What a PITA to reassemble. Re-assembled the trigger group at least five times. Could not get the trigger to release, until I realized what all the extra parts were for. The trigger group has a magazine safety and bolt safety. Trigger does not fire unless magazine is in place and bolt is in the battery position. The first time was correct and a manual would have been helpful. Anyone have any experince with the Marlin 922.

I had one in the late 90's. Can't say I miss it. Mine was ok accuracy wise back in the day, prob a little loose on groups but you are right on assembly/disassembly. I still remember the huge gash I put in my hand taking it down. I think there is a reason they discontinued them but you got a good deal on it. They sell well online if you ever want to dump it.

As far as the serial #, I think Marlin goes 100 minus the first two digits so it would be 1995.

I had one and traded it for a Magnum Reasearch 10/22 mag. Mine shot well enough but was heavier than what I was looking for and the trigger was terrible. A member on here posted he worked on his trigger, he is obviously smarter than I am.

i recently added another 22 mag to the cabinet mine is a ruger 96 lever gun great condition only gave a hundred bucks for it cause they said it didnt always shoot sent to gun smith had it bedded shoots great nice groups but it didnt fire for me the other day put same shell back in and shot fine second time anyone else ever have one of these or still do and have the same problem

I've never been sure why that Marlin didn't sell better than it did. Looked for one back in the 90's and can't recall ever seeing one.

Great find and hope it works out for ya. As a matter of fact, open this thread back up in a few months and let us know how it shoots/functions if ya find the time. Oh, and for Lord's sake include some pictures!

Congrats, CB

Since we are on this topic of the 922 Magnum, does anyone have any idea of how to get a replacement stock for this gun?

I have a friend that had his split beyond repair and he cant find a new stock anywhere. I have checked all of the regular aftermarket stock manufacturers and havent found anything that matches this rifle

Any suggestions?

Congrats, CB

I cleaned it, re-worked the trigger to 3 pounds and changed the Ironsighter rings. I tried firing it today. The Simmons scope that was on would not hold focus. Each shot and it would go out of focus. Probably why it was sold. Never liked Simmons scopes. I'll be changing it shortly. Here it is with the simmons scope.
