Advice choosing a Subsonic Caliber & Platform

Sgt_mike Yup, lots of fun. Working with 2400 powder now to get a good alloy/load with the BO pistol. Last attempt was too hot with the alloy I was using. And I didn't use mag primers but powder burn was pretty complete.
That red dot load was just 'pop' wearing muffs. Probably not very loud without them. I did load a bunch of 170gr PB with 8 gr 2400 for youngsters to shoot, they had fun and it would cycle the BO pistol. IIRC they went through all my ammo that day.

I have thought about a crossbow. I do have a TenPoint, but I don’t want to remove the scope on it…I’m wanting to use a Digital Day/Night scope, looking to get a DNT Zulus 3-12…also want a compact package which the Crossbow is not.
I think my cheapest route is going to be to stick with 300BO. Get a CVA Scout or Ruger American and be done with it and have fun.

My Scout TD is 1:8, with170gr it's just above sub and still gives 1k lb-ft which is min in texas for deer hunting. It has a good trigger. I found a gun shop that advertised on gun broker, called and ordered from them. I'm not a deer hunter but IMHO it would be perfect for your needs.

Not a big lever action guy, but have been considering a CVA Scout. Thanks for the suggestion.
A T/C or CVA suppressed single shot in 45-70 would be phenomenal. T/C Encore is a very light and handy rifle. With subsonics it would be a joy to carry and shoot. Buddy had one and let it go in the divorce. Still hold that against him.

Anyone know what caliber offerings are available with the new T/C rifles?

Thanks for to everyone for all the advice…I ended up going with a BCM 9” AR Upper and will be using Hornady Sub X 190gr ammo and SilencerCo 46m suppressor…Am going to try a Cook Spring Company buffer spring and play around with buffer weights.

Another option-turn gas block upside down, leave gas tube off & you effectively have a bolt gun. Or spend a few dollars & buy an adjustable gas block, can go back/forth semi or bolt gun.

How did your woodchucks react? A LOT of the coons I shot just kept going like nothing hit them. I would think that I missed until I skinned them and found two bullet holes in them. Several I shot while holding onto the tree, you could hear the bullet hit the tree and the coon not even blink. Shoot it again and sure enough, the first shot hit it as well. I switched to the 22lr/mag and didn't have any issues.
I've shot one raccoon with a 38 spl which are subsonic. He licked the hole in the middle of his chest then continued to mad mug me. Coons are tough.
