advice on 22-250 ammo needed

Would like to join in on the discussion of bullet seat depth, if I seat to bullet specifications the bullet is seated down past the neck of the case, didn't seem right to me so, I seat with the base of the bullet at the bottom of the neck not below, makes the OAl a little long, but still not touching the lands. Whats the opinion of this group about seating depth, if the bullet is not touching the lands?

Measure the seating depth and COL of the factory 50 gr. V Max cartridges that shoot well and duplicate handloads w/ 50 gr. Vmax to the same factory seating depth/OAL specs...using a good 22/250-=recommended powder e.g. H4895, IMR 4064, whatever.
Reloads are about 1/5 the cost of factory supreme ammo, not 1/2, so it is a no brainer there : RELOAD. And, you apparently already have the reloading tools.

i have a ruger vt that absolutely loves the 52 berger match varmint and 36.5 of varget shoots like a dream and hits like a hammer
I wouldn't be tied into the 55 grain bullet. I have a friend who really likes the 55 grain Nosler BT's but I've never shot a coyote with one.When I got my first 22-250 back in 1967 I tried the 52 grain bullets and they shot great at a good velocity. Most 22-250's have a 14 twist so lighter bullets will just shoot better as a rule of thumb.
But.........I have a Remington 700 VLS that I had blueprinted and 2 inches of the barrel cut off and it shoots the Nolser 55 BT's extremely well. It shoots the 50 grains even better, [beeep]. Powder is Benchmark. Be sure to work up!
In all of my rifles I've found Berger bullets to shoot the best. I've been using the 52 grain Match Varmints in both my 22-250's and my 220 Swift. They're great on coyotes, too.
I'm not one who obsesses over pelt damage but on all but a few coyotes I've shot with the 52 grain Bergers there's been very little pelt damage. It's rare for me to try a shot like this but 3 seasons ago I killed a coyote who came in across a dry lake bed at a lasered 426 yards. On the same stand I killed a second coyote at about 20 yards.
If I'd found that the 50 grain Berger shot better I'd have no problems going with it. Nor would I have a problem with the 50 grain Nosler BT.
