Advice on rifle purchase

Wondering if you guys could give me your opinions on what would be a good choice for a new rifle purchase.

I will be hunting Yotes & Bobby's with it here in Missouri.

I want it chambered in .22-250 & looking to spend up to $400.00.

I would try & find something used, I am just not a pro when it comes to used guns.

Thanks

Stevens, you can get one new for around that price, and they are very accurate. They are a savage with a little cheaper stock, and no accu trigger. But aftermarket stocks are easy to find, and the triggers are not hard to tune.

.22-250 will most likely give you poor results for Bobcats. Better check past posts to find your best Caliber. You will always get the guy that posts that it works great, but for a 25 lb animal, you may be dissapointed. Good Luck.

Tikka makes awesome rifles, but for the money Stevens are great. My brother bought a used Savage that is the same thing as the stevens for 300 bucks and hes happy he did. After a little camo job and a good scope he is shooting 1 inch groups at 100 yards..Check them out

tikka, savage or stevens are all good shooting guns the tikka and savage have better triggers but are a little higher. and a 22-250 will make a mess if you don't get the shot just right, i shot a big male fox yesterday, hit him with a 50gr v-max right in the shoulder and it was'nt pretty, don't think the fur would be worth much.

What are yotes and bobby's?

Anyway at the $400 dollar mark, If it has to be a new rifle, I'd get the Weatherby Vanguard. Everyday price is $399 at Cabela's. Choose your bullets and shot placement very carefully. Stay off the shoulders or you'll get BIG ugly spots.

22-250 ammo is usually a little pricy. New brass to reload is not much better. 223 ammo is less expensive and if you reload you can find it pretty easy. It is also less destructive. Just MHO.
