Advice on what tripod to buy

So my brother just received his tripod today. I was trying to go on the more budget end but he went all out and bought a Fatboy Elevate with 60mm ball head. Holly crap that thing is nice. Problem is now I want one…

most folks take their bolt action rifles out of the factory stock and put them in a MDT chassis or something similar if they are going to be shooting off a tripod with Arca Swiss attachments. dont have to do that with a SA rifle.
 
Despite what the internet fellas say I love my Bog Deathgrip. I prefer the levers in the legs vs the twist cuff locks, and also prefer the non-ball head, just take a second to level it up properly before you start calling (I’m a surveyor so leveling a tripod is second nature). And you can also tighten the clamp tight enough to hold the rifle but still loose enough to twist the gun to level the crosshairs if necessary. Only drawback is that it’s pretty heavy. The carbon version is well worth the extra price for the weight savings.
 
anything that works for an individual is worth it. we all have what we like, if it works for the person, thats all that matters

i also use a bog deathgrip for my 30-06 when hunting deer in crop fields.
