Aero Percision uppers

I have three of there upper and have replaced barrels on two of them. The third one's barrel is stuck. I took the barrel nut out and side locking screw. With the bolt and carrier out just the bare upper receiver and barrel. It wont come out. I put the receiver in vise blocks and tightened it up in the vise. Tried rapping the barrel side ways. Put a big washer between the barrel and brake and drive the barrel forward. Nothing moves. Tried putting lower on it with bolt and carrier and slamming bolt shut and nothing. Everything is with barrel nut off.

I did everything short of shooting with the barrel nut off and no gas tube or block on it.

Anybody have any good ideas??

I've had to use a heat gun before. Maybe a wood dowel inside the receiver against the barrel extension and tap it forward with a hammer.

My experience with Aero is similar. Very tight, which is better than loose. I usually freeze the barrels and warm the receivers in the oven to get them together.

The vise and blocks our behind the barrel so not sqeezing them together. I did think about a torch on the barrel. The wood dowel is the next step. I havent ruled out shooting it either.

Always have had good luck using heat. Is this a barrel you installed? I know some guys use loctite on the barrel extension making it hard to come off, so heat or a rubber mallet is needed.

A wood dowel wouldnt do it. I had a piece of aluminum stock and put the upper in vise blocks. I rapped on it a few times with a 5 lb hammer. It didnt move at all. Then I hit with a lot of force. It took 5 or 6 blows to knock it out of the upper.

It was crazy how tight it was. I sent Aero a few emails on there thought. On Monday they wanted pictures. I havent heard back from them. There customer service sucks.

did it look like there was bedding in there when you took it out? or just tighter than a fishes butthole?

have you measured the extension dia? likewise for the upper?

i mean, i'm all for a good fit, but if it was that hard to come apart, it must have been all but hammered in at the factory

Did you run the heat gun as well, or just brute force?

Barrel extension looked good. New barrel went in real snug. After I had it on I spun the barrel nut off and really had to work at it to get the new barrel off. I did that just for piece of mind. The new barrel was a Faxon barrel. I put the gas tube and block on and stepped out side and shot it a few times. It works

I just used force to get it off. The barrel I took off was about .0008 bigger than the Faxon barrel. So not much differance.

Heat for sure. I had to use a piece cold rolled steel and slide it into the back of the receiver that was same diameter as the extension. Took a rubber mallet with one hit and it came out after trying.
