Question to all, here in central Iowa today we are expecting 2-4 inches of snow. A lot of times after a snowfall like this I will go out and spot&stalk but see very little activity. Do the coyotes lay low for a day? I would think that they would be out hunting in earnest.

i feel the best time to hunt is after a storm especially the first snow i feel so strongly about that you wont find me at work after the fist snow.

I have hunted ie;[spot/stalked] & hunted with hounds. Red Fox since 1964 & coyote since 1968. In Marshall county [central Iowa]. It's been my experience, that both Reds & especially coyote...

Will [lay tight] the next 24hrs after the snow has passed. A few will venture out after the 1st 24hrs, but generally stay in the same section. They holed-up in.

48hrs after the storm, more will venture out & hunt the neighboring sections.

Some...[coyotes & Red Fox] will often use, field-driveway culverts & their old den-sight to weather the storm.
