do we really think AI is our friend ? it can be, but what about all those data centers that are popping up faster than solar farms and use more water and electricity than some small towns.

its been in the news where some AI have gone rogue and needed to be shut down

i watched a medical show once where they were using an early form of AI, it wouldnt let the surgeon continue because AI decided it was a lost cause in the middle of surgery.

Amazon just released two new AI recording devices that they openly admit will record everything thats said by you and those around you

Amazon launches new Bee 'personal AI' devices that listen to conversations

i think its all about tracking our every move...nothing else

Well... Certainly, every intelligence org in the world is leveraging AI to increase and improve domestic and foreign surveillance. That goes without saying. But to think that is all it is about is missing most of the picture. It's about almost everything. Surveillance is just one small part.

Most large organizations are relying more and more on AI to stay competitive, relevant, etc. I have no idea what the future holds. But the current trend will have the AI companies able to hold most large businesses hostage in the near future. Rates are fairly low now. But, they won't stay artificially low. The winners in the AI space will start reaping huge profits once a tipping point is reached. At the current rate of the current trend, that won't be very long from now. And it will be pervasive across all industries. It's way, way, way bigger and more pervasive than just intelligence gathering.

Thinking about "what is AI all about?". I think my answer is it's all about domination of the world economy.

Nobody knows how that would actually work or what it would look like. If, for example, AI eventually destroys the labor market. A lot of supposedly very smart people think that will happen. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. But if it does... Then, what sort of "world economic system" would arise? It won't be Capitalism. That's for dang sure. But what it would be? I honestly don't think anyone knows. I don't think any of the supposedly smart people and for sure none of our "leaders" are even talking about it.

The homeless people are staying to use it to their advantage already. Saw one today on an offramp with a sign that said AI took my job.

It's inevitable that AI is going to take mine and most of my coworkers jobs eventually. Just a matter of time.

In 1984 your every move was monitored. You had to work hard to find secret places to meet or recreate. Seems that in 2026 that is becoming closer to reality.

if you have ever shopped at wal mart and paid for items with a card in your name, or posted a photo on fakebook and tagged it with a name(s) then you face is in a facial recognition data base.

both of these places have been selling our photos to clearview and everseen for years now.

Yup, we gave production away in the 80s. Motorola and IBM even gave into the competition.

back around 2010, the business manufacturers of America warned the U.S. Government that China was on pace to replace us as the worlds leading manufacturer in about 10 years.....it took 3 and the Government wasnt doing anything about it.
