I agree.

I'll personally stick with shrouded air rifles in .25 if I'm looking for quiet. You can do a whole lot with a 60fpe .25 air rifle......and a whole lot more with a 120fpe .25 air rifle.

I'm interested in seeing the established case law against airgun "silencers" you mentioned.

It was a decision that stated the shrouded barrel was not a "silencer", and a detachable one was...

It was about ten years ago.

I don't collect this stiff, cuz I'm not into airguns anymore.

But since this stuff changes as time passes, the ONLY source that counts is the ATF... so contact them about it and be clear and specific in your question.

I grew up shooting an RWS inside the city of Chicago. I found that if I kept the muzzle of the airgun inside the window/door, I could shoot stuff in my backyard and the neighbors were unaware of it.

I only got cought once, when I shot a pigeon on the neighbors roof and it fell off, flapping and bleeding into her yard. My Dad always told me to wait until the pigeon turns his back to me, and then spine them, that way they don't flop off the roof.
