Hopefully somebody will be interested in this hunt for what is a really good price in these parts. If you are not interested in the hunt, do us a favor and not post anything else. I understand that it might cost more than a hunt in Montana. But by the time Texans put in the time and money to travel to Montana, it is just as expensive to hunt there. This is not a debate but an offer that is $500 below the normal price. I thought that most of you guys would be appreciative that I tried to save everyone alot of money. Id save myself 500$ and go on a guided lope hunt in MT WITH food and lodging,no 100% gaurantee though,no fair chase hunt can gaurantee you 100%,what if the client is a poor shot,wether,ect ect.
 
Nonya I believe you would argue with a fence post. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif They have been 100% in the past. There is no Guarantee, just because of reasons like you just stated. Good luck on your Hunt in Montana.

Gotta a landowner voucher...its $300 (I get nothing) for out of state and I will personally guarantee you success as long as you can shoot decent to 400 yds.
My wife can 'guide' us...she's never shot a gun in her life and we'll be done in time for lunch.

the system works like this

Landowner applies for vouchers based on huntable land that is recognized by the DOW. Each group application costs $25 or there about. Because of the size of the farm my bro in law gets several vouchers both deer and antelope. He does this so that me and mine can hunt....he's not particularly fond of antelope. If during the regular DOW application process we (my son and I) don't draw a license I call the BIL and ask what he got for vouchers and if (being the wonderful individual he is) he will let any loose. He basically gives them to me.
A voucher must be submitted to a DOW office and along with the standard price of the hunting license, in this case about $30 for a resident and about $300 for out of state you get a license. With a voucher you are hunting strictly on private land any where in the area the voucher was good for. So if BIL has voucher we can hunt on his or any other farm in the big game management area with permission.
If I were to sell anybody a voucher that was given to me would be a violation of trust, unethical on ten different levels, stupid and would insure that I never get the opportunity to hunt there again. I've offered them up in the past and never had anyone take me up on it. Thats why it seems rather silly that someone would pay $1750 for something I can't even give away.....but whatever. Because the season is two weeks away all this years are spoken for or we got drawn anyway....there is always next year.

PS - in 2006 by opening day we had two vouchers we could not find a 'user' for. BIL gave them back to the DOW...apparently not nearly as many people want them as people that think they want them.

PSS - hunting antelope in CO is like hunting rats in the grain bin. You see them all the time, getting close is the problem.....thus the "decent shot out to 400 yds." My son shot his first one in 2005 246 yds.

That is basically how our New Mexico hunts run also. The ranch we hunt on receives roughly 50 buck tags a year. We only purchase 20 a year and hunt on a trophy basis. Nothing under the 80 inch mark is usually shot. Every year we have a waiting list for these permits, and like I said before, they sell for $3250. Yes some people dont agree with the price and all that. But alot of people dont have the property to hunt, such as your BIL, or they wont find trophy quality. I know that I would have a hard time paying that price myself, but I will more than likely never shoot a buck that big anywhere else. One of those deals where you get what you pay for. Once again, this really isnt a debate, and I still dont know how it turned into one. I am not the one issuing or selling these tags. That is just the cost here in Texas, and if you can find better then more power to you. But if not there is still a couple of these tags left.

I live north east of Guymon and travel threw Delhart almost every weekend going to Ute lake in New Mexico with my familey.when we get between Delhart and logan we have a contest counting antalope it is not uncommon for us to count over 100 in the short distance.My son has a tag for this weekend in Cimmeron county and I am always short on funds but seems like a fair price to me

This is a fair price for a hunt your sure to see lots of goats. And he is telling the truth about the cost of the landowner tags. I had to pay $1200 for the tags I purchased for my hunters also.
 
Used to, and not so long ago, one could call up ranchers here in Texas to buy their tags from $250.00 to $500.00. TP&W actually put out a list of ranchers assigned permits. Get the list and go to calling. They don't do the list anymore. I had no problem getting tags each year. Now, those same tags I used to buy are 1200.00 and up. Outrageous !!!!!
Most goats killed in the Panhandle are out of a pickup window or off the truck hood. Average hunt will be an hour. Some of the larger ranches you can actually make a hunt out of it.
Just for my opinion, no guide is needed to hunt speed goats unless you are on a super large ranch. My last goat killed was back in 2000 when I paid 500.00 for the tag near Morton.
Can't even come close to that now. Seems these outfitters keep buying up all the tags. I love antelope meat but it's just not worth the big $$$ they want.
 
Last one I killed in CO in 2006 cost $33.25 (I thought it was a little much) and gas. Year before I had a whole $23.25 in it.
My sons cost me $13.25 and he gets first choice.
 
My son filled his tag friday night it had 13 inch horns. I didnt even get a chance to go with them as I had to work.He was hunting in the Oklahoma panhandle with a guy that works for me.I told him to be selective as I was going to be off on saterday and sunday but that didnt happen.They got over to the ranch they were hunting on and saw 2 buck right away and he shot the bigger of the 2 at 287yrds off shooting stix with my 22-243 and the hunt was over.We went to Ute lake on sunday and caught 21 white bass some small smallmouth and 1 walleye and almost got blown off the water so it was a good weekend.Iwas supposed to get the picture tonight to post but its not here yet. Is 13 inch small as I know that we have seen bigger?
