This may be a little weird and a little bit gross, but does anyone else collect the baculum from the animals that they kill? If you don’t know what a baculum is, don’t feel bad, neither did I. Baculum
Well, we’ve been keepin’ ‘em and plan to collect as many as we can.

Here are a couple of pics:

I went to my buddys bachelor party and his uncle had shot a black bear earlier in the day and had brought the pecker bone up to the cabin where the party was at and he was going around stirring peoples mixed drinks with it. when they were told what it was some gagged some dumped their drinks and the really drunk ones just shrugged their shoulders and kept drinking. he kept calling it his swizzle stick

There are people who buy them. My trapping partner saves them all and sends them somewhere at the end of the year and usually makes an extra twenty or so bucks. He says they go for about 10 cents each. He also sells all of the heads of everything we catch or shoot.

Had a coon "baculum" back in high school. I drilled holes in it and made it look like a whistle and told all the girls if they could play it it would call in a coon.... dont think they ever figured out what me an my buddies thought was so [beeep] funny!

I have kept a few of mine from fox and coons over the years. But we called them oosik, but I was taught to keep them by an old Indian friend in Northern Wisconsin where I was raised.
