Any experience with Cabela's Scopes.

Nope, don't own a Sightron. But it would not surprise me at all to find Sightron sharing some of those same components with the other three brands.

Bushnell should/could be another......

If you look at the power rings on the CAG's, they look awful Sightronish.......

When a friend was buying an Alaska Guide last year he asked who made them. The scope guy would not say, but recommended comparing it to a Nikon. Most parts were identical with differences only in label and paint/marking colors.

After reading some of these posts I went back. I put the manager on the spot and flat out asked him who made their scopes. After some time of side stepping and double talk, he told me that Burris makes the lower end and the higher end scopes were made by Leupold. He also told me that dollar for dollar the best scope out in that price range (in his opinion) is the Nikon Pro staff. There must of been something to what he said, because they had fewer of the Nikon than any other brand. So I turned around and went to Sportsman's and was told the same thing by their Gun Manager. They also had fewer Nikon than any other brand. Their manager also told me that SCI was in town last week and people were buying Nikon 3 to 1 over any brand they carry. Just for what its worth.

Whoever the manager was is full of crap. I mean a total idiot......

Can't emphasize the word "idiot" enough.....

I can guarantee you the Pine Ridge is made in China.

I also guarantee you the AG is made in Japan.

If he meant that the Prostaff is the most popular scope in IT's price range, or that he feels it is the best value in given price range, I might could buy that.

Can't see a bunch of "in the know" SCI people flocking to Cabelas for anything, since anything there can be obtained for less elsewhere. Not to mention, they all use Leupolds and Swarovskis.

"Leupold and Burris". Please.......

Wish i had a dime for every time I heard the local Cabelas and Gander Mt. idiots pass out "information" on scopes and rifles.

Sorry man, just ain't buyin' it.....

A guy at the Nebraska Cabelas told me that their scopes were made by Bushnell, a couple months back. You might believe him. I don't. Seeing as how Bushnell does not manufacture anything.........

DAA told me they were made by Asia Optical. He's one of the people here who's information I've come to trust. I'll take his word over the "managers" any day......

I have had two of the alaskan guide scopes and they both have asia optical stickers on them whatever than means. Besides I don't really care who makes them. All I know is that they are a kick a^%$^ scope for the money. I also have one pine ridge and it seems to be a okay scope for the money but I sure wouldn't write home about it.

1. Hence the reason at the end I wrote "For what its worth."

2. Maybe I wasn't clear about SCI. There was a SCI show in Reno where Sportsman's had a booth. That is who was selling all of the Nikon scopes.

3. I don't care what is made where. I wanted the best scope for what I can afford. Hence the reason I asked this question.

4. I was just passing on information that I was told. Want make that mistake again.

I've only seen two Cabela's Alaskan Guide scopes and neither was all that clear, they remind me of Tasco Varmint series scopes. They seem to hold zero and if you can see it you can hit it but they just don't seem to have the light gathering capability I like.

RC----I realize you were trying to just pass on info. Didn't mean to rip your head off. I just hate it when guys who don't know(the managers), can't just say, "I don't know........."

A Cabelas Alaskan Guide scope may use the same aluminum tube assembly as say a Nikon Monarch, though the lenses may be sourced from a lesser grade Nikon ProStaff. It may have an erector assembly thats the same as a Bushnell Trophy if it's compatible with that 1 inch tube. A power ring like Sightron uses, again if it's compatible with the assembly, ect, ect, ect,.

Lets say we could get 100 guy's together here pitch in $100.00 each and contact various Chinese optics factories and ask to see samples of there various 3-9x40 model scopes. We pick a model from Chang Wang Optics and tell them we would like this model but, with target syle turrets in 1/8" moa adjustments instead of 1/4" coin slot adjustments and a lighted mil-dot reticle instead of a duplex. We would like it roll marked (Joe Blows Super Varmint Whacker) They respond they can build this for us and 500 so marked scopes would cost $20.00 USD each. There you go when your crate arrives in 9 months or so you have your Joe Blow scopes. It sure looks like that BSA model but, the BSA model does'nt 1/8" target turrets and that lighted mil-dot reticle.

Of course there is no Joe Blow Optics factory we just sourced a scope to our spec's just like everyone else does.
