Any experience with Redfield Revolution scopes?

You wondered about point of impact changing as well as about new redfield scopes. If not, all the preliminaries were wasted typing because the only thing you had to say was "what about the new redfields from leupold?" Everything the poster mentioned was a valid point. If you had mentioned those in your first post as already covered then you would not have had to get offended when those things were pointed out to you- it ain't always the scope.
The point he made about old redfields vs new redfields is because you stated you had an old redfield that you really liked. The poster was politely pointing out that the old redfield and the new redfield are related in name only; different build, different glass, different coatings. In other words, the only thing they share is the redfield name, so the fact that you like your old redfield is irrelevant to the new redfields.
If you don't like someone commenting on what you say, then don't say it and ask for input.
By the way, I think the new redfields are ok. I would start with something else but they are ok.
There, I chimed in.

Actually, if you'd care to go back and reread my original post, the only question that I asked was about folks' opinion on the Redfield Revolution scopes. No wondering about impact changing mentioned.

Good huntin', y'all!

I always like it when a poster comes in with a pre-conceived notion, but asks for "advice " and "opinions" from real world users, only to resort back to their first choice.

First, if you looked through the scopes at the store, without mounting them, you can reliably tell the eye relief or eye box, honestly.

Also, did you focus the eye piece on each scope? That would easily explain why they weren't clear up to higher mag.

The Revolution is a decent scope. Right about even with the new ProStaff. But the Burris, IME, is certainly a better scope.

I have a 3-9 40mm on my deer rifle and it never let me down. It seems every bit as good as the nikon prostaff i have. For the money they are great scopes.

I have a redfield rev. in 3x9x40 & 4x12x40. They are both great scopes & hold zero very well as the 4x12 does a lot of bouncing around on an atv as I travel down old logging roads from stand to stand. Someone mentioned the optics aren't the best in low light conditions & I can see where they would mention that as I think that could be better. My only real gripe is the eye relief as it seems to be a lil long in my opinion.

Yep.

And now I think it's time that this thread died a natural death. Thanks for all the comments, folks. And please excuse me if I didn't perform to everybody's expectations on this one. My bad.

I am sorry if my reaction to someone who answers a simple question with an attempted lesson in why my scope went out of zero came across as rude. I felt the same way about that particular reply.

And no feelings were hurt at all. It just seems that sometimes when one asks a question, one gets a whole gamut of information that wasn't either asked or implied in the question.

Once again, please accept my apology if my response came across as rude. It was by no means meant to be such.

moonshine44, the part you have obviously failed to realize here is that the amount of knowledge certain responders at PM have is often directly proportional to the number of posts they've made. Hence, the more posts, the more intelligence and worldly they thinks they are, and as a result, the more arrogant they will likely be.

Its definitely not a universal thing here with everyone, but with some its very predictable.

If you like the Redfield, by all means give it a shot. It and any of the other scopes in its price range that have been mentioned here will probably fill the needs you have. One specimen of Brand X might possibly be better than one specimen of Brand Y, and vice versa with two other examples of the same Brands. But again, since its your money and you've found a scope you like, by all means spend your money how you want. You'll probably be very pleased with your choice and others who did not contribute money or legitimate help might not be. Que sera sera.

ditto, again. everyone: grow up! We're talking about riflescopes here. Not what the results of the election might be...

hey Moonshine i have 2 of the 4-12"s one a 223 and the other a 22-250 and i couldn't be happier. go for it, they're great. just the fact that they are made by leupold was enough for me.

That's the "Revenge" line. We have very few of the Revolutions left and they are being clearances out at $99.88. Good buy, but going fast.
