Any hunters in South East Indiana?

I live about 4 miles east of Versailles.Hunt Ripley & Dearborn Co. mostly,but have done a bit of coon hunting south of Greensburg.
 
I live in PA, but have hunted in SE Indiana. I hunted around Brookville, and Metamora (not sure on the spelling) There is a ton of land around the brookville lake that is open to hunting.

yep lots of land that was open to hunting near brookville lake. I had hunted land near the lake but they put a housing adition up there .

JimH I live just west of Greensburg between Columbus and Gburg to be exeact. Getting my neighbors to open up land for me as I get to know them. Got a ton of yotes around here. Just not hunted them yet.

We coon hunted up there a lot last year and heard coyotes every night.Haven't made it yet this year but plan on it when the moon is darker and it's a bit warmer.
 
Went out just a little while ago to my friends house where the "bait" pile is didnt even get out a call fog so thick I could barely see 50yrd. Real eerie with an almost full moon and all the snow. I know we have yotes checking out the pile but I never have been able to hear them singing when I am in the area. I have used a siren a couple times to see if I could get a response but never have. I would love to use a trail camera to see when they show up to see if there is a pattern they follow but with as cold as it has been at night I doubt the batteries would last.

We have a lot of coon hunters in this area. meet a couple of them when they stopped to help me and my cousin when he went down on his motorcycle. Real nice people.

Is this all we have in Southeast IN?
 
I'm not in Indiana but close enough that Brookville Lake is quicker to get to than Cincinnati. Its a very pretty area. The fishing is pretty good for those who know where to go but the water gets choppy fast weekend on the warm summer month due to all the skiers. How heavily hunted does the public land get around that lake. I helped a fella out a number of years ago just northwest of the Fairfield causeway that lost 60 sheep in a 10 month period to the coyotes. Three will never taste lamb chops again. Indiana is well populated with them wild dogs.
 
Gotta love the walleye in that lake but the STRIPER are a lot more fun. I used to know where to go hunting in the Brookville area but now I am not sure. From what I understand that public land never really gets that full except for deer season and that is just about over. I may have to look into hunting that area again.
 
Called a couple friends today that live in the Brookville lake area. The public areas around there have night hunting for coon and fox couldnt find anyting out about coyote hunting. Gona see if I can get in touch with the DNR and see if they have yote hunting.

According to the people I contaced they dont think that there is a lot of heavy hunting there. BUT hey they dont hunt so I guess they arnt that reliable. If ya want to find out about hunting at the Brookville reservoir It is managed by the DNR {Division of parks and recreation} contact number (765)647-2657.
 
I don't know about coyote hunting there, but the deer season around the lake is not that bad. The locals say that is hunted hard, but from what I saw it is nothing compaired to our public lands in central PA. I hunted a week in Archery season the last couple of years around brookville lake and I only saw 2 other hunters. The public land areas are huge so in my opinion hunting pressure is not really there. I make around 5 trips a year to the Brookville, it is a really nice place. Lots of wildlife, and when I take the boat out, some good walleye and channel cat fishing.
 
Yeah I know the deer hunting on public land around here is pretty heavy. But i have yet to see the public stuff be used for much else than deer. Well the put and take pheasant hunts and duck hunts are always full.

Brookville is a real nice place for walleye and just about anything else that can be found in this climate. Used to go stripper fishing there with a guy form work. Man those things can tear up a reel in a hury
