Any one from Michigan

Have you guys ever seen such a group of hard workin no killin coyote dudes as us fools from Michigan!!Well I,m right there with you here in Jackson, but hopefully the Nettie Bay deal will be a change of scenery and dog callability, look forward to seein you all there. We need to rent a greyhound and have a kick @#@ varmit party on the way up.Ain,t it funny you drop on line here and se4e all these cats just smokin the fur out west and you know that you can't be doing to much wrong or different from these guys, not that they are not great callers cause they definately are, but when you make 111 set ups with no responses you've got to ask yourself,,My god man, wheres the stupid ones???? I've called in and killed 12 in 10 years of hard callin[coyotes] and about twice that many fox, but I sure don,t think thats very good for as often as I call. I guess thats what makes us diehards, when you do finally kill one its all worth it. Does anyone know if theres a Michigan chat for predator hunters so we could all get together? See ya'll at Nettie, drive safe,If ya want to see thong bikinis you,ve got to go to Daytona,so we all might as well plan on headin out west to see some fur...Good Huntin Everybody..Aim small miss small JEDADIAH

Hello varmint sniper 308, I've hunted at the Waterloo state game area (for deer) on and off for some time. There's places out there I would love to call but it's that little thing called time. It seems that everytime there's a fresh fallen snow I have to go to work so I can't check for tracks out there. The nice thing about Waterloo is that there is lots of area to be had. Sooner or later my wife and I will have to call there.I hope somebody gets something.

I needed to sign back in again at this post since my old call name (songdoger) has been put to rest. Had to change due to a little confusion with another member (songdogger)no problem though he was a member first. I've been blaming the weather this year. I don't think they are that hungry with little snow cover and with warm temps, they don't need to keep huntin to stay warm. Called 1 in during bow season but he busted me. Guys in Ohio are having good luck doggin yotes, seen 1 get peppered last sat. am. Good luck to all and keep trying!!! It should be a little better now that breeding season is goin.

Thanks for the relpy, I been wanting to try out there. I went to Coldwater over the weekend and found some fresh tracks, called, but nothing showed. Well talk to everyone later.
Mike

Yep you guessed it ANOTHER yooper here!!

I've been real lazy about getting out calling for yotes this winter and i'm sure i'll be kicking myself in the ass next year when the snow is up to my neck instead of my ankles. One thing is for sure, coyote hunting is a tough business here in the wolverine state! You just have to go,go,go,go,go,go,go and go again and sooner or later a guy gets luckey! Unless of course your born with a rabbits foot around your neck and a birth mark of a four leaf clover on your left buttock like MV

Where have you been hiding? Perhaps it's time to plan a trip out in the coyote woods. You can't shoot one if you're sleeping all the time.

I'm about halfway between Lansing and Ionia. Plenty of 'yotes running around the Portland game area. You can hear 'em at night down by the river nomrally 3 out of 7 days a week.

Hey Michiganders, I'm living in MN now but from MI. My parents live in Ludington and the old man gets out after the "dogs" once in a while. He's been seeing a lot of sign lately and hears them about every night for the last 2-3 weeks but hasn't been able to get out after them. You might want to check on that area as he says that there isn't many dog hunters in his area.

I'm from Shepherd, MI. It would be a cool outing for all of us Michigan callers to get together some time. Have a camp out or something on some state land and swap stories and tips. Its kind of running down for this year but maybe next year we could get something together. Any of you guys from mid michigan area want to get together some time and do some hunting drop me an email. Just wanted to know how everyone felt about the 1st place team that won the Mich Varmit hunt. They said nothing about using calls???Sounded like they stalked?? Any replyies? I think the contest is way to big for Neddi Bay to put on, we need to have Cabelas or Jays pick it up..

MJ

I was wondering how the 1'st place team killed 4 coyotes. I hunted hard all year and only called 2 coyotes, and killed 0.
If your out there 1'st place winners, please share some secrets.

Hey MJSURESHOT, I'm the last one to jump on the negative band wagon but you know how hunters look and dress? How the best hunters and trappers look like predators themselves, real sneaky and sly and smell like cover scent all the time? When these guys jumped out of theirCadillac Escalade all freshly showered in their ski outfits, they didnt really look like the rest of us looked after huntin 3 straight days, or smelled for that matter, and they asked the guy next to me what was it gonna take to win points wise. That pile of dead yotes on top of that SUV was 15 deep not countin what they had supposidly just shot during the contest. These guys are either undoubtedly the best coyote killers in Michigan, or something else. They have managed to do what thousands of other dog hunters in Michigan cant even do once, but they did it 20 times in a week!!!!Call me suspicious I guess, I know what it takes to outsmart a Michigan coyote because they've outsmarted me alot more and thats alot of success in a short period of time. With the 4000.00 in entry fees I was a little shocked at the payoff of 600 total dollars! And another 25.00 for a paper plate of food and 1 small prime rib?? WOW ,,theres another4500.00, we might want to start up our own hunt ehhhh? Maybe they should bring in a polygraph????LOL LOL Or at least a fake one,but if you,ve got to go that far it really takes the fun out ya know.Whats your feelings on the whole deal? Did you detect a funny aroma in the air???? YYours in the Outdoors Jedadiah from Jackson

I am from southwest mi.I have done a little fox hunting, not very good at it,have more fun crow hunting,I would like to go coyote hunting with someone who knows what he is doing.

I hunted the nettie bay hunt for two years now. This year we hunted about as many hours as one could hunt in the aloted time.I felt great success in just seeing one yote.I was really suprised that one team could kill 4 yotes in 48hrs.If nothing else guess I should thank these guys for making me try harder.I just wish they would have shared there success stories.I'm sure we all could have learned something!!!!!!
