Any Weld County Colorado hunters

If so email me if you want to hunt. I have some land owners that are losing a lot of money in livestock and I'm am not enough of a veteran at this game to keep up with the numbers of coyotes.

Not in Weld County but grew up there and I am not far now. I just did a coyote hunt in Sterling and we saw plenty of dogs. I would like to arrange to go if you got the place I can find the time.

Brings up a question.....I thought it was illegal to shoot PD's east of Interstate 25????

Maybe you're not east??? Maybe I'm wrong???

tcman - it is absolutely illegal to shoot prairie dogs "on public lands" in eastern Colorado. It is legal however to shoot prairie dogs on private lands "acting as an agent on the farm property in the interest of agricultural production" in eastern Colorado. Check with any CO DOW office. I have several references in this regard and can assure you that it is also legal to shoot praire dogs on state owned properties that are privately leased from the state for agricultural uses. I can also tell you I have little trouble becoming an agent on just about any place ....privately owned or leased of course...that is overrun with pds.

Thanks for the info.....glad to hear the little buggers can be "controlled" at the land owners request. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

ps... just looked it up in the Brochure they (Division of Wildlife) publish. It says that BLACK-TAILED PD hunting is prohibited east of I-25 and in xxxx counties, including Weld county.....makes no mention in that section about private land and permission. Imgine that.

Another interesting point is White-tailed and Gunnisons PD's are legal state wide with no bag limit.......Never waited for a PD to flash its bootie at me before I fired one off /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

if you go to the FAQ on the CO DOW website the first general question reads as follows

Question
Can I still hunt prairie dogs?
Answer
Land east of I-25 and a few select counties west of I-25 are closed to black-tailed prairie dog hunting (see the Small Game brochure for a list of counties). The only exception is landowners or their agents who are shooting them for damage control. An “agent” is simply a person authorized by the landowner to act for him or her.

This leaves no doubt.
