Anybody else use Sceery calls?

I've called off-and-on since the late 70's; I started using the Weems Wildcall and Burnham Brothers calls - still do at times.

Over the years I have acquired many types and brands and used them with what ever success my ability could muster.

It seems, however, that my "go-to" calls have been the camo Sceery distress calls. I really like the feel in my hand, in my mouth, and their sound. Further, predators like'em too!

Does anyone else use them? Any comments pro/con?

Good huntin',
Jack

I think Ed Sceery makes some of the best calls available. The armor coated feature makes them quiet on the lanyard, and they are easy to operate. On top of that, Ed Sceery provides some really useful info for beginning hunters. If you like closed reed calls, his are the easiest to service right in the field with no tools.

Al, What do you mean?

I've got a number of Sceery calls. Open, closed and bite reeds. Also have a howler and diaphragm. I've used the elk calls for a longer period though. All of them are good IMHO.

Weasel: I mean just what I said. With Sceery's closed reed calls, if one gets froze up in extreme cold, You can take the mouthpiece out, dry out the chamber, and even put another voice in it, all with no tools. No pushrod needed or anything like that. You can also take his larger barreled calls, and put different voice reeds in, and make yourself a long range coaxer, cottontail, etc.. I also think his special coaxer is the best call of its type to tape on your gun stock, and it is freezeproof.

I have an AP-4 that I wouldn't go hunting with out. They make very good, productive calls! It is also the loudest closed reed distress in my bag (really reaches out there).

Thanks Al! I never tried to pull the mouth-piece before. I have a new AP-3 and just now tried it. First time for everything, eh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Weasel: Yeah, it put me in shock when I first learned how easy it was compared to other factory made callers. I have one with the coaxer voice in the biggest tube, and it reaches out there. I don't use any closed reed calls anymore, other than the Zepp's Rattler, but that is mainly do to learning to use open reed calls which we all know are more versatile. I wish all the calls were made with the armor coating like Sceery's.

I have and use a rabbit distress Sceery call that I have used for over a decade and absolutely love it. I haven't bought very many after this one. It is my "go to" call.
