Anybody hunt bear in Tennessee?

After bagging a small bear in Alaska last year and tasting how good bear is, I need to find them closer to home. The TWRA site has little on bear hunting. Was thinking about Cherokee Forest? What about foothills WMA? I'm planning on still or spot and stalk, no dogs. Any suggestions on where to start?

The TN game site has some info, looks the habitat hugs the NC border. That includes areas called 'bear reserves', which are off limits. I'd find a likely area right next to these reserves. All the likely locations are in the mountains, next to NC.

there is one eating my buddies mothers chickens in her yard right now. we have a lot I guess over hear in the NC mountains but we all use dogs. 2 yrs ago my squirrel dog had a cub treed in my yard. It is kind of sad for a still hunter wanting to kill a bear over hear because of all the dogs in the woods. The people who do it hunt the real rough and rocky mountains around here where people do not like there dogs to go and the bears know that and hang out there such as the Nantahala Gorge there is spots in there that if you shoot one you don't have to worry about dragging it out cause it will just roll all the way down to the highway.

Not sure how close you live to North Georgia but if you don't mind paying for an out of state license Cohutta WMA and a few others here are ate slap up with bear I usually see 4 to 5 a year deer hunting. And you are allowed 2 a season in the Northern Zone.
