Anybody Paper Patch cast bullets?

I was tinkering with the idea of paper patching cast bullets for my rifles. Paper patching is supposed to be almost as accurate as a jacketed bullet and keep the bore clean as well as allowing cast bullets be able to be driven up to about 2500ft/sec.EDIT** Not 25000ft/sec

It sure would cut costs of bullets. You can shoot just about any alloy of lead.

You might check with the black powder cartridge shooters on that subject. I know there is an organization for single shot rifle shooters, mostly of the black powder type rifles. They ought to supply a source of information on the subject.

I have done it already with muzzle loaders and black powder cartridges like the 45-70. I just haven't driven a bullet over 1200ft/sec. The smaller the bullet the more difficult to wrap also. Anybody done this with say any cartridge from .338 down to .224? Not trying to shoot a .224 out of a .338 You should be able to shoot 6.5mm (.264")bullets from a .270 pretty easy with just a double pass of ordinary typing paper. 3 passes of typing paper should also let you shoot small .224 bullets in 6mm or 243 as well.

As bullets are getting more expensive it might be a great thing to know so that you only need one size of bullet to be able to shoot in several caliber guns.

Anybody else with experience?
