Anybody trick out a Savage Axis or Ruger American?

Yes, the stock is in the pepper color on my Axis.

My main reason for chosing that color is that the other Boyds stocks that could be described as "camo" have too much green in them. I'm almost never hunting at a time when things are green, so pepper was the best "camo" choice.

Grouse. I like the pepper too. Opened up the barrel for a pepper Boyds on a buddies 22-250, very pretty stock although his was blued. Pepper seems to compliment stainless.

OT, I was searching Savage Classics a while back and came upon your post, did you ever buy the Classic?
 
Why buy a cheap rifle and spend lots of money to upgrade stocks, triggers, barrels etc. I'd rather save up and buy a better rifle in the 1st place.
