I just picked up a Marlin 1894 classic in 218 Bee and I think this will make a neat little calling rifle. Anybody have any experience with this combination?? Any ideas where to find brass? thanks Rob

NO!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Absolutely not, you should sell the gun to me as it will never work lever actions make poor varmint rifles /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I've always wanted one of those. Nice find and good luck with it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

thanks, it is clean as new rifle. already put a 2x7 scope on it. Just got to find some ammo. I refuse to pay what they want for winchester ammo. I think I'm gonna order some from Reeds. would like to find some brass and load my own.

The brass is only made in short runs (it's called "seasonal") because of limited demand.

There isn't much around right now, but go to midway, and put in a "reminder" and they will tell you when it is in stock.

It is a little expensive (33 cents each) but because of the low pressure of the lever gun loads, it lasts forever.

I have two 218 Bee rifles, a Browning/Winchester 65 lever gun, and a Ruger #1 falling block. The 218 Bee is one of my favorite cartridges.

As has been stated, you'll like the 218 Bee cartridge. It's one of my favorite plinking rounds.

I own a Ruger #1 in 218 Bee that shoots extremely well. You'll want to limit your range if shooting coyotes with it, but it is an excellent cartridge for small game since it has low noise levels and the recoil is almost non-existent.

Thanks for the info. Not worried about the range of this rifle, where I call most coyotes 100 yards is max, it should do ok. went back to the gun show this morning and spent the most I have ever spent on a box of cartridges..70 bucks. I plan on ordering some from Reeds also.

That flat nosed bullet used for the 218 BEE is not very accurate. Mine likes the 45 grain Hornet bullet best with 10-5 grains of IMR-4227.
I had some 218 Brass on back-order at Midway, and after months of waiting, Midway cancelled the order. Someone else may have it but don't bet on it. The only way to get brass may be to buy loaded ammo.

I have a ruger #1 in 218 bee and I love the little cartridge like was said limit your range and have fun, little recoil and accurate. Mine likes lil-gun.

Man... it's great to see so many .218 Bee fans.

So much for dead cartridges /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I cant wait to get to shoot this lil rifle..(working for the forseeable future) already talked to a buddy and he has dies and brass so I will be set. thanks for all the info..hope it shoots as good as it feels.

I to have a 1894CL in 218 Bee (orderred it new around 1990). I had it set up with a reciever sight until my eye surgery and am rnning a Weaver K-1.5 Duplex on it now. I've taken it a couple of times but haven't connected with it yet. I'm usually testing some new wildcat and just take as a backup. I have spent alot of time testing loads and find that the Win 46gr HP over Lil'gun works best in my rifle. I've tried some single loaded 35gr and 40gr pointed bullets single loaded but haven't bested the Win FP yet.
