Anybody use a Gentry muzzle brake?

I'm considering putting a brake on my .300Win but don't like being deafened! I ran across the Gentry Quiet Brake which supposedly does NOT direct blast back at the shooter.. Just wondering if anybody has used it and what they think?

Thanks!

pyledriver,

I've got 2.
1 mounted on a Sako 300 win. mag Stainless
and 1 mounted on a Browning 300 Ultra mag.Stainless
The workmanship on both installations is impeccable, and the finish perfectly matches both barrels. You can barely notice where the barrel and brake meet.

The break does reduce recoil to a level where you can do some serious load work at the range and not cripple yourself, when firing 25+ rounds each at a range session.

When doing load work at the range wear hearing protection as always. Ours is a covered range and the noise is channeled back at you, and yes they both are louder than an unbraked muzzle. In the field in fairly open terrain where your only hopefully going to fire 1 or 2 rounds the noise back at you while louder than an unbraked muzzle I feel is acceptable, not punnishing. The trade off I feel is worth it. In close timber or where the noise and concussion is echoed back at you it can be uncomfortable for some.

The Gentrys are fine people to deal with and there product is hands above some of the junk I've seen out there.

Ask them to make you up a dummy break without the holes in it to go along with thier quiet brake. Do your load development with the Quiet Brake and then screw on the dummy break when you go hunting. Just a thought.

Good luck

That's a great idea JSweet! The range is where I hate that .300!! I've put off any real load development after experimenting with some factory stuff. That thing has noticeably more recoil than my 7mag, which I always thought was tolerable!

Thanks!
