Anyone else think this zombie thing is getting out of hand?

I just went to Brownells and half the stuff I saw was "Zombie" something-or-other. Zombie ammo, zombie scopes, MEC zombie shotgun reloading press, zombie gun cleaning kit... I think it's dumb. That is all.

Just people trying to cash in on a fad. Everyones doing it! Dumb...Ya its dumb, just goes along with all the Tacti-Cool and other stuff like that. Look at all the "accessaries" you can buy for AR's today. Thats pretty dumb and un-needed "Stuff" also. A tactical lever action Marlin??? Give me a break. The list goes on and on and on and on and.....

You wouldn't think it was dumb if you ever saw my Ex wife...

And in spite of my best efforts, she still walks among all of us.

It's all about money, and a fad as psychodog stated. It's the same with so many gadgets for this and that which fill the pages of catalogs and websites. I'm sure some of the things work OK and could be useful, but if I had to have everything marketed that attempts to convince hunters they need it, in order to accomplish this or that and in order to successfully hunt, I'd need a pack mule - or maybe two, not to mention a rather large wallet filled and running over.

Now that we are on the topic, and in my opinion, a lot of the camo on the market is pretty much useless as far as real camo goes, but it's pushed and sells well.

Some of the best camo, for my neck of the woods anyway and most of the east, never really got a start, and it's good stuff. One example, Forest Floor camo is really good stuff, but about as scarce as hen's teeth. As well, Advantage Timber was a good one, with all the shades of leafy colors. Both blends well with the fall leaves here in the mountains. Why is it no longer made? It probably never had a good marketing start (Forest Floor), nor big name pushing it. Advantage Timber was "the" thing at Cabela's for quite a while, then suddenly disappeared literally from one season to the next, and Realtree took over in a big way. Other brands like Mossy Oak made it big and continues to somewhat, but most guys I know will tell you it's too black and dark colored for most places they hunt. It probably works fine in the forested swamps of the south, but it apparently has such a big marketing campaign that a guy would think it's super camo for use most anywhere.

That's just the way it is. But, you would think that once a great camo pattern is found, that it would continue to be available since it is so good. Such is not the case, since something new has to come about to continue to get hunter's money. I suspect the Zombie stuff is one of those things. It will most likely run it's course, and then something else will come along.

Maybe some of you remember when Spencer's Gifts sold pet rocks. That's right, pet rocks. When I first saw one, I told my wife out loud, "man, that's nothing more than a creek rock." but, the sweet little rock was nestled in a box of fluff or straw, given a cute name, and sold for quite a bit of money, as I recall $10 or more and that was back in the mid 70's. A lot of those city slickers jumped all over them. If only I had of known at time time, I could have got a ton truck full of creek rocks. But, 'twas not my idea, so some other guy had the good fortune.

I believe it has brought in some interesting products which were all cool for awhile. But seriously, Ruger has a zombie lcp that sells for $50 more than the standard one. Add a sticker and rack the price up. Out of control-yes. Going away soon-probably not.

Whats even worse than Zombie ammo ETC. is that there are people that really believe that there will be real Zombies in the future.

Atop of that the people that buy the Zombie products. DUH.

We've too much of a inundation of video games and the younger population is losing sight of reality...Hard to blame the merchants for taking advantage of stupidity...

P T Barnum is credited with the phrase, "There is a Sucker Born Every Minute"....

C'mon, don't any of you guys get the newsletter or go to the club meetings on Thursdays. "Zombie" is code word for liberal.

I too shake my head at the Zombie craze. However, look at the bright side fellas - all ammo and firearms sold (to smart or dumb consumers) have an 11% excise tax, thanks to the Pittman-Robertson Act.

These dollars are then allocated to State Conservation Agencies for wildlife habitat improvement, public land acquisition, research, management, education, etc., which I'm all for.

ive been looking forward to the zombie appocalypse as it is getting hard to find prairie dog towns and its not easy to call in coyotes..... Budump-bump...

These are the jokes people....

I agree. I had at least one coyote less than fifty yards away. Just when I thought I'd be dropping my first coyote two ATVs came through the woods even though the whole area is posted. Maybe the Zombie's wouldn't be quite so elusive! The only Zombie products I have are the Zombie Max .223 rounds by Hornady. They are great ammunition, and I get them cheaper than the VMax bullets. As far as Zombie movies, I wouldn't go across the street to watch one. I was never much for any fantasy type movies, and haven't watched any. If it's a good product I need and they want to put a Zombie name on it, that's okay with me. I won't be buying any Zombie suits, though. Some people take that stuff seriously. And some are bound to be good shots.

I don't have any zombie stuff. I don't see the attraction either. I do keep some silvertips for the werewolves though.

It's not any worse that the pet rock craze.

Not into it myself, but, on the positive side, I think we all should like that it is getting a large number of people into the shooting sports that otherwise might not get involved. Shooting at zombies???...well, that takes an imagination that maybe only a liberal could have...LOL!!! I think they just like to dress up like that...'course, look at CAS!

Never thought of the Pittman-Robertson benefits - yeah, what he said. And, we can now get bulk Vmaxes cheaper!!! Still don't understand why [beeep].

6mm-06 - Forest Floor was a Mossy Oak pattern, and Advantage Timber is a Realtree pattern, and they both had goo dmarketing, but I guess it's not as cool to blend into the ground cover as to look like a tree...with legs....moving.... - I love 'em both, but really like the Forest Floor for pants when sneaking along.

You won't be thinking its out of hand when they are feasting on your brains!

I think the zombie thing is stupid, but brilliant marketing. Just as effective as labeling everything "tactical".

I mean, the CDC is in on it...http://emergency.cdc.gov/socialmedia/zombies.asp
