Anyone ever hear of a tensioned ar barrel?

I have a chance to by a tensioned ar 15 upper in 17 remington.
Never heard of such a thing.
What is it?
Interested in the caliber but dont know anything about the tensioning thing.

From Wikipedia

Barrel tensioning devices are a way of gaining stiffness with minimal increases in weight. They do this by placing a lightweight sleeve, often made of aluminium or a carbon fiber composite, around the barrel, and then using a nut attached to the end of the barrel to tension the barrel and place the sleeve under compression. This serves to keep the muzzle closer to concentric and coaxial to the breech during vibration.
 
I have heard of them, and I own one for my 10/22. I just haven't seen them for an AR. Any idea who made it?

Mine's carbon fiber and weighs under a pound (17 inch bull barrel).

Magnum Research makes them for centerfire cartridges, but not in 17. They're around $670 each.

Carbon Fiber shrouded barrel tensioned.
Found out that M&C Rifles in Indiana made it.
I have shot it and man it is alsomely accurate and makes a light weight package.
I thought the guy was blowing me some line about tensioned barrel.LOL!!!!

Yeah, post some pics of the rifle and groups. I might be interested in that myself.

Mine shoots real well, but the light weight is the big bonus.

Do you have a link to that barrel? I did a search and couldnt find anything, sounds interesting.

Edit to add, I'm aware of tensioned barrels (have one on a .22 mag) but havent seen them for AR's yet.

Didn't Christiansen Arms make them several years ago?

Here's a Volquartsen carbon tensioned barrel on a 10/22:

It weighs about the same as Lurker's.
