anyone had bad luck with their foxpro??

While I'm sure this has been frustrating for you, I would still call FOXPRO directly and let them know what is going on.

I'm sure they'll do all they can to make it right.

yotehunter243,

I apologize for the issue that you are having. If you can, email me your phone number to mike@gofoxpro.com, and I will get in touch with you and go over the issue. I can assure you that I will get your issue resolved.

littledawg,

We used to include the batteries and chargers with the FX3's we sold years ago, but found out that a large number of people chose to use alkalines. The chargers were not being used. So, we stopped including the batteries and charger. People have the choice in our units to use the regular alkalines or rechargeable batteries.

Most of the issues that we see with units not charging is directly related to the batteries or the charger--something we do not manufacuture. The batteries that we are offering now for our systems are a low self discharge high capacity NiMH, and they are excellent batteries. However, there will always be bad ones in the mix.

coyhtr,

If you have an issue with your range, send your unit in, and we will get it back to you asap.

As far as giving away our sounds, I don't think that will ever happen. If we lose the incentive to go out and record new sounds, it will be the customer, and not us that will pay the price. We spend a lot of time and money on recording new sounds. In fact, we will soon be releasing about 20 more new sounds that I promise you will be very sought after sounds. There is only one company that I know of that gives away their sounds, and when was the last time that they came out with any new ones? We have released more sounds over the last few years than all other companies combined, and are very proud of that fact. And, they are recorded with the best equipment to give you the highest quality sounds available today. At the end of the day, the purchase of our sounds is used to fund the acquisition of new sounds for you the end users.
Also, remember that our units are made right here in the USA. If you think we can compete in price with units made overseas, you need to reconsider your thoughts. We take great pride in manufacturing our units here, providing you the customer with the highest quality units that money can buy, and back them with the best customer service in the industry. While some of you think that there are alot of our units with issues, I can assure you that is not the case. We sell more units than any other manufacture, so by nature, you are going to hear of more issues. I would love to say that 100% of our units will never experience an issue, but that isn't going to happen. I would dare anyone to challenge us that we actually have the lowest return or failure rate of our units compared to any other manufacturer in the industry. What's more important is that when there is an issue, to do everything you can to get it taken care of asap.

Thanks for reading.

Mike Dillon

I've got an FX5, a Fury and a CS24 and have not had any problems with any of them. The FX5 is over 10 years old. For the longest time I didn't use rechargables.

That being said, a buddy of mine enlightened me about the potential problems of using a $500-$600 e-caller as a battery charger. His logic is that it isn't a lot of trouble to remove a few AA batteries periodically and stick them in a dedicated charger, rather than risk a battery overheating/exploding/leaking inside an expensive piece of equipment. I now use a smart charger.

My Firestorm has been flawless from day one. Couldn't be happier with it. I use a seperate wall charger for the above reason. Don't want to ruin my $400 caller with a bad battery.

I wasnt trying to turn this into a bashing Foxpro thread cause i do believe it is the best call made, I reckon i am more upset that I didnt get my unit out sooner and test it because i leave for my wolf hunting trip in 3 days and have to use mouth calls. My fault for not having it out and working a month ago. I did get ahold of FoxPro today and i am sending my Unit in. I do appoligize.

If you use alkaline batteries you can still use it for your Wolf hunt. You dont have to use rechargeable batteries.

I have always used rechargeable and for years used my FX 5 charger. Here lately I have been amazed at how many bad batteries I am finding with the Smart Charger.

Ditto, I have had batteries from lots of different companys and even the eneloops. But I kept finding 1 or 2 batteries that wouldn't balance with the rest and at $9 for 4 AAs, I decided just to get a small Sealed lead acid battery and put in my carry bag. I just use a trickle charger on it once every few weeks and I can get a long ways with it (Days of calling even with my SP55 attached). It comes in handy when you need to jump off a truck too.

Any 12v Sealed lead acid battery can be used in place of the battery pack. It just depends on if you want it to be in your call bag with a power cord to the call, or if you want something that fits in the battery compartment. (Just got to watch the polarity of the battery)

Since going to SLA, I have never run down that battery and that was a 4Ah SLA in my bag. Im sure a 1.5 or 2 would last for a couple of days.

I usually set the call on top of the bag anyway and then have about a 12 foot power cord that goes to the battery in the bag in case I want to put the call on a branch or something so and I am set.

There you have it. Foxpro is top notch. i've owned two of their calls and the only issue i've had was operator error which i imagine is ninety percent of any foxpro callers issues.

I Love my firestorn, and it has worked FLAWLESSLY since I bought it. Last winter in NE a few days it was -15 and it worked GREAT! My only complaint is my wife put my warranty registration in her purse and never mailed it so if it breaks, Im screwed! LOL hope for the best! I dont have ANY problem buying new sounds, and LOVE the fact it isnt a made in China POS. THANKS for being made in the USA. If we had more companies like this, our economy may be in better shape??

I love the fox pro company I think their top notch but as I said the batteries issue does come up and create some problems. As I stated earlier in this thread a simple devise to let you know the level of charge in the unit would be great. Just something you could plug in and read that showed fully charged, half charged or low charge would work nicely. Or a scale from 1-10

I have found out one thing with FOXPRO. No matter where you get your call at (i.e. Cabela's, APC, Local shop) or wherever, if you have any trouble at all. Just call FOXPRO's direct customer service line. They have always been the most polite and helpful people to deal with. I think they are one of few companies now days that are truely concerned when a customer has trouble.

Last winter I had my firestorm fall of of the shelf I keep it on and broke it all to he!!. I called them and then sent it to them and for a small charge they replaces the half of the case that was broke and speakers and it works grreat. They had it back to me within a week and a half.

I have never met any of those guys and gals out there, but they have always treated me great.
