It wasn't but a few years ago that I tried the AR-15 and went to the dark side. I learned alot and had fun with those rifles but recently I have found myself drooling over well made Sharps reproductions. I have wanted one of these rifles for 20 years now but always found a reason to wait. Well the wait is over I have a C.Sharps #3 that I am very very proud of. I can't wait to let the smoke out of it....any of you guys enjoy the "Old Dark Side" ....of black powder cartridge rifles?

I, too, have been drooling but haven't ponied up the cash. Let us know how she shoots, what sights you settle on, and pictures of course!

I have a C. Sharps Model 1875 Classic in .38-55. Intermediate range tang sight, globe front sight, and it also has a buckhorn rear sight on the barrel. Knocked-out walnut stocks. 26" heavy octagon barrel.
The best part is that this rifle really shoots. Bought it and never looked back.
I now have a C, Sharps Model 1874 Bridgeport Sporting Rifle on order in .50-140 3 1/4" 34" heavy octagon barrel. Can't wait to get it.
These rifles are a treat to shoot.

Todd my rifle was used but impossible to pass up. The rifle has several custom features that I always wanted, first it has the upgrade AAA wood with cheek piece and accent line. It also has the pewter nose cap and heavy half round half octagon 30 inch barrel. The rifle was born with full buckhorn rear sight and a silve blade front. I changed the front to a basic globe with post and ball and added a Montana Vintage mid-range vernier tang sight. The caliber had me a bit worried because I had always wanted a 45-90 but this rifle is a 40-65 wcf. Some guys frown on this because it was not an original caliber Sharps was made in....Oh Well. I consulted as much information as I could find and everyone said it was an accurate and easy caliber to learn on maybe a bit light for long range BPCR but very capable of good silhoutte scores.
Sorry but I am excited about this rifle and at some point this fall I want to center a yote up in that buckhorn rear sight and knock him over.

Jeff man sounds like the bug has you also. Now 50-140 what a cannon that will be. Do you have a delivery date for you rifle yet? If I like this rifle as much as I think I will I may order my own next year but I think it will be a 45-90. I bet it is sweet when you get it. Sounds like you have a very nice 38-55.
I will try to get my camara up and going over the weekend and post a pic.

Big Mo,
I "expect" the rifle to be shipped sometime in November. I don't plan to shoot it a whole lot unless I can work down some loads. Just something about these rifles. Saw a .32-40
WCF at a gun show and passed it up. Kicking myself now.
The .38-55 is real sweet. Easy to shoot, easy to load for, and accurate as all get out. The deluxe vernier rar and globe front are fantastic.
Good luck with yours.
Jeff

I have a Shiloh Sharps Sporter #1 in .45-70. It tooks me 14 months to get it from Shiloh, but it was well worth the wait. I love it. It's a really different experience shooting a BPCR rifle with Black Powder loads. Lots of fun.
