The older Sako Vixens, Foresters, Finnbears, Finnwolves are some of the finest rifles ever made. Right now my go to rifles are a Forester 22-250 and a Vixen I got in 222 Mag but converted to 223 AI. I still have the 222 Mag barrel. Both are fine shooting and fine handling rifles. Bummer about the thumbhole stock.

Sako puts a little "up" pressure near the end of the forearm and I would not advise pillar bedding or free floating a factory rifle until making sure it's a poor shooter. I've never found a poor shooting older Sako.

Do a search on Sakos. You can get some good info on line.

BTW......I just remembered. Sako sold barreled actions so it's possible your rifle never had a factory stock.

Thanks for your inputs I know it's hard to give a value of what it's worth without seeing it.

believe it or not a while back I seen a fellow on eBay that had several different models of Sako stocks that were new old stock. I just typed in Sako gunstocks.
