Anyone own a Savage 10 predator hunter max 1 in 22-250?

So I've decided to get a 22-250 for a coyote gun. I started out looking at a ruger American all weather that I have at work. Then today I was really thinking about a savage 10 predator hunter max 1 we have on the shelf. It'll cost me around $300 more than the RAR but I like the big bolt knob and the longer, heavier barrel. The accustock is supposed to be good but I have no experience with it.

I'd like to hear what some owners think of their max 1s.

I don't have that rifle in a 22-250, but I do have one in a 243. So far I am extremely pleased with it. I haven't worked up a good reload for it yet, but it will shoot factory Winchester Varmint X and Hornady Whitetail Interlocks between 1/2" and 3/4" when I do my part. I'm not saying that it will do that "all day," but it shoots well for a factory rifle.

I shot my biggest buck during the 2016 season with it at 300 yards using the Interlocks. I have several other Savage rifles, and have been pleased with the out of the box accuracy of all of them.

Do a search. The Savage 10 Max-1 is well known to be a fantastic shooter in many different calibers. Mine in 243 shoots outstanding. Whatever special thing they did to that model's barrel, it's amazing.

Just know going into it that if you don't like the camo dip stock, there aren't really any aftermarket replacements. It's for keeps. I had the camo blasted off.

I bought a early made predator hunter(pre accu-stock) in 22-250 and it shoots great. The first day I had it I shot 3 factory loads out of it at 100 yds, one was a 1/2"- 3 shot group and the other 2 were 3/4" groups.

Witchcraft in the barrel. Gotcha. Lol. I don't mind the camo stock too much. Could always have it dipped in something else too.

Goosedowner, is yours 1:12 twist barrel too? What weight bullets does it like?

Planning on getting one as soon as I can sell one or two other rifles; hoping the 12-twist will shoot the 53 gr. V-Max well (for 'chucks and 'yotes.) Thought I'd sworn off "store-bought" rifles, but I like the package: dbm, Accustock, and the barrel length/contour; just hope I win the crapshoot and it's a shooter.
