Anyone running a 16-18" barrel ? Shooting 53-60gr bullets? I put together a 18" 22 creed for my father... 53gr were around 3800fps 60gr tmk running 3600fps.. I was thinking about putting another one together..
But I was curious if the 22gt might be a better option if I'm running a shorter barrel.... just curious what you guys are getting for 22GT velocities with 16-18" barrels running lighter weight bullets... I'd probably run a 12 twist.. TIA

Barrel length
Bullet
Powder

But honestly, what were they thinking with that name? Gay tiger? Really???
Gt is pretty common in the car name game...
Ltd is the question there = large truck door?

In the gun world we have the arc's, the 300h'mer, blk out, buckhammer, backcountry, creedmoor, saum,

Why not follow the Europeans with stuff like 7x57, 6.5x55... they have some weird ones too, but we take the cake.... backcountry, seriously it reminds me of a questionable cowboy movie.

I'm going to try an find a good used tikka an build off that I think.... unless I can find a decent deal on a custom action.... probably should go with a 22 creed I have dies head space gages. But that 22gt just seems like a solid well rounded design... 😂 💩

You look at mack bro's actions, I think they have one for 750

I've heard good things about the Weatherby 307 actions, priced quite well too:

Go read up on these 307 actions at the shooters forum and you might change your mind when you see what some of the better rifle builders in the game think of them. (Hint…It’s not great) There are too many reliable action makers out there to waste time and money on something iffy at best.

There's a mixed bag of reviews, but it appears the issues are with the PT&G actions. Makes no difference to me, I'm done building guns, so I never did a deep dive into them.

I guess PT&G makes their 307 actions for weatherby.... And I've seen some people love them and others have mixed feelings.. I question PT&G quality control I've heard a lot of not so good things in the past... its unfortunate... The price is right an the 700 footprint would be nice....

After a deeper dive, I'm not sure exactly what to believe. But it appears that Weatherby does in fact make the actions, and PT&G takes those, and fits different bolts to the receivers.

I gave up on PT&G ten years ago for reamers, after it took them 3 times to try & get a correct reamer, & still failed. JGS all the way....
