Anyone shooting 75gr Vmax in .243?

So today I loaded up some 75gr Vmax in my .243. These are the first hand loads that I have shot through this rifle and I'm not to sure if its the bullet or powder amounts but they aren't very consistent, about 2" at 100yds and the factory Winchester was about 1-1/4 in 90gr. I was shooting 75gr vmax, 38.5 gr varget, Winchester brass, cci200 primers 2.630 coal. Any input would be great guys, thanks in advance as always.

Mine is also a varmint 700...I've heard good things about this bullet and we all know varget is good stuff. I wonder if a little more powder might straighten things up a bit. 38.5 was near the low side I'll load some more and post results.

I'm shooting 37.0 of varget with the 75's - I had to slow them down a tad to get them to shoot out of my 26" 1:9.25 twist savage barrel.

My 6mm AI really likes the 87's - I'm just trying to use up the 75's in my .243

I use them in my old Rem 788 with IMR-4350 for prairie dogs out near 5ooyds. I also have had luck with H380 behind them too.

varget should work with 75 v-max,my md 7 loves 75v-max with varget.have u tried working up the load? or change primers?

Sorry, but Varget never worked for me in the 243 with any bullet. RL15 and XMR 4064 and H4895 were better powders hands down. Also, not sure why but the Varget kicked really sharp and the 4064 and RL15 just gave you a push.

Just finished refilling my 50rd box of hunting loads for a Remington Model 7 youth with 18.5" barrel. 75gr Vmax, 39gr varget, remington 9 1/2M primers, OAL 2.645". This is the most accurate bullet/load I have found for the mod7. Right at 3000fps with consistant sub 1" groups. YMMV

I went with the 75gr because that's what the local gun store had on the shelf and I figured why not haha. I've worked up some more loads in groups of five. I started with 38.5 so what's I've got now is 38.7, 38.9, and 39.1 gunna Try shooting these over the next week or so as we're expecting rain and see what happens.

What other powders/bullets and COL have you tried?
