I'm located near Marion Oh. BuckeyeSpecial, If your close, maybe you would like to check mine out.
Marlin has built photo type's and as word had it, they were to be introduced at this years Shot Show. Didn't happen. The word was out they were closing the CT. plant around that time. They produced their last X gun in their CT. plant this past June and moving their bolt actions to KY. All the other Marlins will be produced in NY. Not sure when production will take place. I do know they are just beginning to ship some Stainless X guns. I figure once they get settled in, they will start producing the 22-250 and 223 cal.
Boyd's has recently stood up to the plate and are producing some reasonably priced, good looking and top quality stocks for the X gun's. There are a few fella's using the 22-250 Savage take-off's on the X guns, with excellent results. There are a few that are bedding an free-floating the orignal stock's, again with excellent results. With my 243, I haven't seen a reason too. I'm quite satisfied.
They are great to handle and excellent shooter's. The only complaint I had with the X gun's is the cheep plastic trigger guard. Mine even showed a crack from the factory. For around 18 bucks it can be replaced w/a steal one. IMO, with extensive researching, the other low end outfit's doesn't even compare to what the Marlin X gun's have to offer.
There is a great following behind these low-end shooter's. Check this out!
