I have a friend that spent two years working for the feds placing poisoned eggs out trying to kill ravens to try and save the sage grouse.
Several states have very aggressive raven abatement programs going. All scared crapless, and rightfully so, of the consequences if sage grouse get declared endangered.
Anyone in one of at least two western states noticed road kill getting picked up by the state a lot faster than it used to? Part of the anti raven, pro sage grouse campaign. They are hoping to have an impact on raven numbers by reducing carrion available to them.
Last reports I read though, none of this is having much of an impact or resulting in better lek production.
Ravens are a problem for sage grouse, for sure. But not near as big a problem as habitat loss. And that's never going to be reversed.
