Anyone try the Burris MTAC scopes?

I was wondering how these scopes performed as far as clarity, tracking in the turrets, and maintaining zero. I am seriously considering a 3.5-10 x 42 mil/ mil for a 308 project I am working on...

I know that wilydawg has one and I have messed around with it a little bit. The scope clarity looked great and he has his AR shooting great groups at 100 yds with it.

Finally an answer, LOL. I have had this posted on two sights now for a few days with no hits. Are these fairly new scopes? I have not been able to find much about them through Google. I did finally get some intell on them and decided to go ahead an order one. Maybe I will put it through the paces and write a little review on it.

Yeah I belive they are an upgrade of the AR332 and 536 scopes. The nice thing about the MTAC is that you have a black reticle even if the illumination isn't on. With the AR332 and 536 if you turn the illum off or your battery goes dead you have no sight.

They are a pretty sweet sight! I didn't like the distortion around the edges when moving, but the reticle is nice for a quick pickup. The center dot is (I think) 3 MOA, so keeping it super tight as a paper or small target gun it wouldn't be the greatest. This is the next generation from the TAC30, but there really isn't much difference. The MTAC has a rotating on/off, and the TAC had a push button if I remember correctly. The TAC is also over $100 cheaper, so it's a reasonable option!

I am on the market as well, and am leaning more towards the Vortex Viper PST 1-4. I liked the glass a little better, and the reticle is a little less crowded. I've been told that the Burris reticle will force your eye to center on the target faster, but I like the look of the Vortex more. The Leupold is also an option within the same price range. It has pretty decent glass as well, and a slightly different reticle than the Vortex.

As a little background I plan to use mine for 3 gunning and the occasional critter blasting!

Does anyone know how these reticles look in mid-day sun? I took a look at both again today, and the MTAC seems to have heavy enough black lines to work in really bright light, but the vortex seemed to disappear.

Thoughts?

??? Actually most of the higher mag scopes appear to be an upgrade of the corresponding Fullfield E1 models. I've been evaluating some of MTAC scopes, but I'm not done. So far I can say they are typical of Burris optical quality - very good resolution and contrast for the price. I can also say that Burris understated the elevation and windage adjustment range. Both scopes have much greater ranger than the specs indicate. Turret click are just like the E1 scopes - audible but not very firm. The reticles are nice too.

I have the 4.5-14x42 model on a 50BMG target rifle shooting some heavy loads. It's holding up well. I just started to evaluate the 6.5-20x50 model and am pleased with the contrast at 20X.

For the money, they can't be beat.

My 3.5-10 does have the heavier reticle and I have not had it dissapear in the bright sunny day. So far I have had a very good experience with the MTAC scope.
