Anyone try the Lid Cam yet?

I did a search for "Lid Cam" and nothing came up, so I don't know if there's any posts out there. Anyway, just wondered if anyone has tried the Lid Cam yet? If so, what do you think of it? I've always wanted to try a video of my calling but didn't want to mess with a camcorder on a tripod or on the rifle. This looks interesting, but, I'm curious about the quality of the video. Doesn't seem like you'd get much for $150. One site, don't remember which one, has it for just over $100. Figured I'd ask to see if anyone here has tried it yet. Thanks. Greg

Go to Rhinoblinds.com (don't know how to make it hot!) and look at the Lid Cam. Looks like a cap bill flashlight (which it is!), and is a video camera also. It's new(ish), and apparently no one else has tried it yet!! Just wondered?!?! Greg

If I bought one of those for 149 bucks I would wait to tell my wife when she was really constipated. When she heard that she would, well lets say her problems would be over.

Yeah, I'm thinking some zoom might be a good feature. That GoPro does take great video though.

That's an interesting camera as well. Like dc mentions above, the GoPro video provided the other day by yfzduner and another member are pretty impressive from a clarity and resolution standpoint for sure. The GoPro is a bit less expensive if you go with the base model than the Epic, but the Epic also has a zoom feature which the GoPro does not.

The Lid Cam appears to be least expensive of the 720p action cams compared to the above, but you're pretty much stuck with wearing that one on your hat brim limiting everything to POV filming and you have to reach up and change the camera angle manually before aiming your gun or your camera will be "looking" the wrong direction. Not sure how practical that is on stand.

I probably do half my calling alone. So I really don't know how practical it is to drag a regular camcorder/tripod along and try to manipulate that, the caller, and the rifle. I know I carry too much along with me now, so I thought it would be handy to just clip it to my cap visor and go. It's definitely something that you would have to experiment with before you tried it on an actual hunt! But it doesn't matter how handy or not it may be if the video quality isn't very good. That would be my main concern. Greg

I have been looking at this one also and wondering if anyone has tried it as I may be interested in getting one. I also looked at the Tachyon OPS HD cammera as well but that one takes a special micro SD card and it has to be a class 6 or 10 and it is not included with the unit. The lid cam comes with everything.

Certainly for the hunter that likes filming their exploits it's hard going on your own and demands lugging extra gear and the need to have a remote caller and decoy to divert the attention from the cameramanshooter.

The reduced abitity to utilize the zoom is a negative and the most important aspect of these cameras will be how well the Predator appears on the footage @ some distance out.
The best footage is when you can zoom in and capture their expressions at those moments of truth. I've had some disappointment viewing footage of a great calling session only to have failed to zoom in enough to make the footage worthwhile.

I have recently ordered a couple of very inexpensive cameras that I intend to use as POV cameras to complement my tripod mounted HD handicam. So keen to see how well they work out. One being a camera within a pair of glasses that will give the same view as the LID CAM and the other a small spy cam I intend to place on the FOXPRO.
Time will tell as to their value but at less than $80 inc SD cards and shipping its worth a try.
