Anyone use a Bushnell Yardage Pro 800 Compact?

The price seems hard to beat on the Bushnell Yardage Pro Compact if it actually will read 800 yards off of a tree for only $250. I own a older cheaper Bushnell, but it will barely read off a metal barn at 300 yards.
 
Most of these will read the "rated yards" off a metal reflector under the best of conditions. I would expect the 800 to be useful to about 400-500 yds under real hunting conditions.

I own the Bushnell 1000 yardage pro, and it's good against large trees to about 750. Large white metal barns to about 900.
 
I love mine. It's been right on the money for a couple of chuck shots over 600. With a 308, I need to be real sure of the range when I take a poke at something that far out. I'm sure there's better and more expensive units, but this one is cool for it's price.

I agree with badtothebone and Stmp.. I have one and love it.. Read targets to 750+ with no problem.. It is not a Leica, but doesn't cost what a Leica costs...

I have the yardage pro 600 and it works under most conditions. The big exception is in the bright snow. Than, no matter what, it craps out out at about 200 yards! Otherwise I've used it out to at least 500 yards. Recentally I got a good deal on Bushnell's Elite 1500 during Cabella's Utah store grand opening, ($329 to be exact) and the 600 doesn't get used anymore.
 
i have noticed mine doesnt like snow at all. Since i rarely shoot distances when there's a lot of snow, its not an issue for me.
 
I had the Bushnell. I was not overly impressed with it. Fortunatly I left it in my deer stand last fall. I remembered it after a couple days of pouring rain. I was junk. I replaced it with the Nikon 600 and could not be happier. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I had one. It broke after 3 months. I replaced it with a Nikon. It lasted 6. Neither was that impressive, and I ranged stuff, not critters.

Then, I got a Leica 1200 Scan. Oh baby...

The Bushnell and Nikon ran me about $250, each.

The Leica ran me just a bit over $450. No, that's not a typo. It's a factory refurb, with full warranty. Oh, and it was a demo that Leica basically just checked out to make sure it was good to go (it is).

Best $450 I've spent on hunting stuff in a LONG time.
 
I bought one last weekend.. first one I have ever looked through..it worked fine for me..havent used it for over 450 yards though..not many shots that far here anyway..too many hills,...lol
 
I went with the refurb route, like VAnimrod did, but with the Bushnell Pro 800. I got it for $170 with factory warranty and all accessories. I have had it for only about four months, but it has worked well for me so far, but I won't be putting it thtough a lot of use until this summer.
 
I bought a new Bushnell Pro 800 a few months ago from Natchez's for $179. It's worked very well so far. It easily ranges shrubs and trees to 600 yards, and a bit further if you hold really still on an average sunny day. I haven't gotten any readings from trees or rocks past 700 yards yet but I've never used the "reflective" mode yet either. It probably will if I hold it real steady and range a metal object like a car or shed.

My only complaint is that the lense isn't as bright as I'd like and clarity is acceptable but only average. It's great for the price and the 8x magnification helps find specific targets. Ranging typical distances like crows on the ground out to 300 yards is cake.
 
I have one and it works good till about 500 yds. after that it doesnt want to pick up what your lasering. Also the first one i had worked for a month or two then the display got all blurry so I took it back and got another and its worked good after that.
 
I just got done playing around with my 800 Compact, ranging a news helicopter. The furthest I could get a reading on it was 740 yards.
