Anyone use a Forster Co Ax press

I've got three of them! One I've had for about 30 years, can't remember exactly when I got it, but have used it a looong time. When I got my shop, I got another so I could have one in both locations. Just picked up the third one at an extate sale!
 
My first press was a Redding C-Frame. changed to the RCBS Junior then to the Rockchucker. Went to the Forster This last year. It is the tops in my experience.
 
Everyone that's had or used one of these will tell you how good they are. If your looking for bargains you might check on Ebay they come up there once in a while.

The only press that might be better is the Corbon, but they start in $400 bracket.
 
The absolute best press there is. All the ammo used in the Olympics and World Championships, World Cups and the Pan American games is loaded on the Co-Ax press.

Jack, you forgot the Secret Service, Marines, Army and most other govt. security agencies that load for snipers.

I have had one for several years and tonight my Rock Chucker IV was sold and will be heading to Oklahoma tomorrow. The rock was very good, but the Forster is better, easier, faster....
 
I recently (6 months ago) bought one and love it. Check out the prices on Natchez Shooters... I saved almost $100 over the MSRP that Forster advertises...

I was experiencing several stuck cases when I first got it and found that I hadn't been using the correct setting on the shell holder jaws... Since changing them, no problems.

I load for two different rifle calibers and changing the dies is a 2 second snap..
 
Lots of glowing reviews on the Forster so I got one from Midway last night for $205 and went on and got the short handle and shell holder adaptor to go along with it. The Rockchucker may hit the auction site.

Don't get rid of the RockChucker to fast. Some large magnum, and micrometer type seating dies wont fit the CoAx.
You will be very pleased with the CoAx. Watch Midway and others for the locking rings when they go on sale and stock up.

Ditto on keeping the old one.... I kept my old Pacific and use it for my swaging die when I get some Federal or military brass that has been crimped, or my bullet puller die.

I'm also keeping my eyes open for another small press that I can use for load adjustment and bullet seating at the range.
 
It is important that you use the clamp style lockrings, they stay square to the die. The setscrew type lockrings can c-o-c-k ([beeep] censor} and then the die is not straight in the press.

Help me out here. I read somewhere the press has been improved/modified this year, but I don't know what the changes are. I want one, but don't want to buy the old model on sale. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
 
The only thing their website says is they have the short handles for those cases that need less leverage. That is just an allen head set screw to switch them. All else appears the same.
 
I have been using mine for about 20 years and the first thing I did was make a short handle for it out of aluminum tubing. As I recall I changed it before loading any ammo. The factory handle made you sit too far away for convenient use, especially if you have short arms and/or a less than svelte stomach.

Dangit, you guys are a bad influence on me. I'd been laying off to get one of those things for some time now, hanging in with my Rockchucker. This thread pushed me over the edge. I just broke down and ordered one too, complete with short handle, shellplate adaptor, a few extra lockrings etc.

Most of my dies are Forsters anyway, so I didn't need many rings, but I do still have a few others that I haven't switched rings on. Now that's taken care of too.

If I was still a kid my Mom wouldn't let me hang around with this crowd. I can hear it now, "those people are a bad influence on you, if they jumped off a bridge you'd probably do it too". Hahaha, how many others heard that line as a kid?
