Anyone use an ACOG?

I have been eyeing a trijicon ACOG lately. The ta31F in particular. This model has a triangle shape reticle and a bullet drop compensator and is 4x magnification.

Would this be a good optic if I also wanted to use it hunting fox and maybe some groundhogs?

Personally and knew many who had a horrible time with them in the Corps.

Buddy who was an electro-optical tech and spent endless hours fixing (and still does) hundreds and hundreds of them with the rest of his platoon will attest to their quality.

The quality of crap.

I've got the 5.5 x 50 all I can say about it is that I like it. Although I haven't given it any rough treatment I've found it to be very accurate and it's clear as can be.

I have a few, I do have a 31F. It rode my grendel for a while. Great scope. If 4X is enough for you Trijicon ACOG is a rock solid platform. When it comes to red dot scopes Trijicon ACOGs (if you want magnification) and Aimpoint rule the top.

Just a quick reply to Mike21. I have not used an ACOG in battle conditions but I have never heard Anyone give nothing but praise concerning rugged/reliability about these. I just read that trijicon was awarded a $600 million contract by the USMC. I recently purchased a TA33-8 with TA-60 mount and I have had great results hunting and target shooting with mine. I can hit 8" steel diameter plate at 300 consistently/easily with a 16" HBAR using 62gr.n factory ammo = Im getting 3/4 moa @ 100 and more importantly I finally slammed my 1st running yote. Im not doubting your word brother, but Im glad I spent the money (ALOT FOR ME) Has stayed zeroed/love the chevron ret. Specs say 1.9" eye relief = NO, more like 3" Great optic!

I looked at them but went with the 1-4x Accupoint w/ green triangle. I like to leave it on 1x with both eyes open and knowing that 4x is there if one hangs up. Also Whittakers had them for $669, quite a bit cheaper than the ACOG.

They are great scopes for someone who shoot with both eyes open. Shotgun shooter are easier to train. Some riflemen never get the hang of the open eye thing. If they are good shots we send them to long gun school.

My happiest day was when I got my M14 with a Leupold scope.
