Anyone used Kuiu hunting clothing?

I'm looking at getting. A pair of pants and some type of light pullover. How durable is this stuff and what is everyone's opinion of the overall quality?

I live 10 min from their HQ. Their stuff appears high quality, and their prices reflect it. Too expensive for my likes but I stop by now and then to look.

Yeah, it is definitely pricey. I am not sure I want to spend that much on a set of hunting clothes because they can be subjected to such harsh conditions and I don't want to have to be worried about them all the time. If I tear a hole in a pair of 40 dollar pants I don't worry much about it but if they cost 140 I'm gonna be mad. Besides, it looked like a lot of their stuff was back ordered

I stopped in last winter to get a light weight l/s merino wool shirt. They didn't have my size in stock, so I ended up buying somewhere else.

Best stuff your going to find and priced accordingly. My understanding is that the owners of KUIU were the previous owners of SITKA.I am willing to pay high $$ for stuff that works, especially in the brutal winters Idaho can offer. My next full setup will be KUIU,and if I didn't have all the Cabela's Alaskan Guide gear now, I would own it now.I refuse to buy SITKA,not because its bad gear, its awesome stuff...Because too many posers wear it!Just to give you a heads up,KUIU is sized for the athletic type hunter,to some this is a gripe, but if you fit the smaller fit build, you will be happy.

If it's designed for smaller build hunters I guess I might need to stick to the good old regular camo. I'm 6'2 220 lbs

i feel the same way!!!!!!!!!
I know a lot of Sitka guys are great hunters and good outdoorsmen.
but I don't know any! The ones I know are flatlander posers.
maybe its just where we live.
My calling partner just got his kuiu and loves it,says the quality is great but in all farness it hasn't been out hunting yet.

I just don't know how I would feel if I ripped a $150 pair of pants busting through brush with a Summit climbing stand on my back and a bow in hand. I don't mind paying for quality but if I get so worried about it that I can't enjoy it then it does me no good.

If I spend 150 bucks on a pair of hunting pants they better make me scent free, invisible and give me the ability to fly...

Sitka only works in the mountains?

I was pretty suspicious after the last giveaway event. You had to register online for a live internet video review of their new tents. At the end, they announced the 2 winners and what city each was from, Jack in XYZ Utah, or whatever. He said, "we'll be getting a hold of you to let you know how to claim your prizes". Meaning, the winners had not yet been contacted. (It was a live event).

Problem is, the registration DID NOT ASK FOR YOUR LOCATION. The only fields possible to fill in was your first name, last name, and phone number. So when they did the live drawing, how did they know what cities the winners were from???!!!

Because it was rigged.

LOL! I guess, I'm glad I don't own any of that mountain man gear, my [beeep] and thighs might rip through it when I'm doing my 10 mile flatland hike with 50lbs of useless gear.

I own a fair amount of Kuiu and Stika. The Kuiu attack pants are the best hunting pant bar none on the face of the planet. I have worn the first generation of attack pants for years and I've worn them hard. I have yet to tear a hole or rip the crotch in fence crossings. I have a couple pairs of the new generation solid colors I wear to the office. The solids have the zipped vents on the thighs, but I've never used them. They are the most comfortable, breathable, flexible, tough hunting pant out there. And I own the Stika mountain and ascent pant as well. I personally don't care for the Kuiu colors, but I can tell you this, it will not fade over time. I have a few of their tops, but I do like the Stika tops better, particularly the waterfowl camo for coyote huntin. Probably the best piece of Kuiu gear is the bino harness. I've used them all and this one is the lightest and most comfortable to wear. Plus you can up clip them and hand the binos to your handicap friend who forgot his (we all have one of those partners).

The downside is you need to place the order. They won't charge you until they ship, but it may take months before they get them back in stock. It is an athletic cut on the clothes. Most guys upsize by one or simply order two different sizes and return the one you don't keep. IMO there is a reason Kyptex, Kings, Predator, Firstlite, and all the others are copying what Stika started and Kuiu is taking to another level. It won't help you kill anymore animals than a pair of jeans, but if you like to be comfortable and only take one pair of pants on a pack hunt these are it.

Look at it this way, the attack pants will last longer than the $600 you just dropped on your last FOXPRO, and you will still be wearing them when you drop another $600 on your next FOXPRO.

Best stuff I've ever owned but it's definitely designed for mountain hunting over multiple days packed in away from the truck. I'm 6'3" 260lbs and where the 38" waist attack pants. The worse the weather and terrain the more you appreciate it. If you only hike in a mile from the truck to make a stand and then back out it might not be your thing. Skinny, I've seen your videos, you would like this stuff for your cold temps. Yes it's spendy but if you use it every hunt like I do for many years it's not that bad.

I'd echo littledawg's comments. I'm several seasons into my Attack pants. The only tear in them was at the cuff from a piece of barbed wire in the middle of nowhere in [beeep]'s Canyon. Go figure. You will not tear this stuff unless it's on barbed wire or the claws of a bear. I've got a couple of seasons on a pair of Guide pants also which are slightly warmer and worth it for winter coyote hunting. Both pants are three-way stretch, are super flexible and will never bind you. They resist moisture as long as you're not sitting right on the snow or wet ground and they dry overnight in a tent. The zip tops are nice but I preferred the original merino to the "NuYarn" stuff they came out with. But, you can backpack hunt in them for a week and hardly stink and can coyote hunt most of the winter without washing them. Oh, and the Chugach rainwear is the most breathable stuff I've ever used and I sweat when I'm hiking. I kind of hate to say all this about them since I'm a retailer and their business model cuts us out but...you asked. (Yeah, the bino harness rocks too.)

Hey, I'm all about, you get what you pay for! Might have to give her a go!

Does anybody else out there wish that they made this stuff in SOLID colors, like shades of brown or green. You could get a lot more use out of it during the year. I can wear camo jackets anytime, anywhere up here and fit right in but I always think that guys wearing camo pants grocery shopping with their family or strolling around a car show look pretty stupid. I have been buying solid color North Face and Mammut winter pants made from similar type wind/waterproof/stretchy/tough fabrics and not only do they work great for my fall and winter hunting but they also work well when snowmobiling my trapline and walking in to check my sets. Best of all though, I can also wear them to football games or walking the dog without a feeling like a total fashion disaster!

I own a bunch of Kuiu stuff. It's well made and tough. I have mountain hunted in it for a few years, even guided sheep in the northwest territories. My first pair of Attack pants is now pretty beat after four seasons of continuous abuse.

The only criticism I have is that it just isn't warm enough. No matter how I layer it. I have to put on some other gear to get that warmth if I'm calling coyotes or sitting in a tree stand.
