AR-15 gun case?

If you are looking for a soft side, I have THIS one and it's really nice with two large zippered pockets and it has tie down straps inside that secures the weapon from sliding around...

If you are looking for a hard case that is adequate for air travel, then go for one of the Pelican cases... A little spendy, but it's hard to find a better quality..

You read my mind I been looking at buying a case for flying. I came up with the pelican 1720.

cabelas has some of the rebranded bulldogs on sale right now for $15, originally $40, picked one up in store last week, feels like a solid case to me.

Pelican for a hard case. I went through three cases trying to fly with a cheap (but nice) hard case. Pelican is built like a tank and made for the abuse. Buy three cheap cases and you could have bought a pelican. It's your investment, protect it the way you see fit.

I bought the Pelican mentioned for my trip to NM with my AR. The baggage monkeys whipped up on it pretty good and even tried to break into it. Not a scratch on my rifle and nothing out of place. It has some battle scars on the outside from the trip, but good to go for more trips to come. $200 for a case was nothing compared to the near $3000 worth of gear it was protecting. I'm a believer in them for sure.

I just bought a pelican and love it its the 1720 my AR is 38 1/2 inchs long fits great take your time and cut foam correct and they protect

i have a few pelican cases ranging from the 1750T down to the 1450, if you want protection a pelican will give it to you, BUT if your looking for something discreet... i have a couple Blackhawk discreet cases that tote around real smooth, carries my sbr with suppressor attached and 3 xtra 30rd magpuls, so it depends on what your moving around, when i have my LR system ready to go and need the protection i use the pelican, when i need to cover my AR or sbr, i use my discreet cases and roll with it.

I have 5 softside AR15 46" Midwayusa cases that have not given me 1 problem in the 6 yrs I have had them so far.
They have been rough handled for most of that time.
I like the fact that my varmint guns with bipod/scops fit into them also.
For $19 they are hard to beat.
Pelican if you need a hard case.

A few months ago I "pulled the trigger" on a Pelican 1730 Transport Case with diced foam at Dvor. Sale price was $325.00 with only $9.99 FLAT FEE shipping!

I wanted a quality, lockable, water tight, dust proof case, with pressure valves, and wheels that would fit into my Pontiac Grand Am trunk and hold both Thumper and Tinkerbell scoped uppers, along with the YMH complete lower.

Certainly the price is lower than purchasing a Pelican case for each set up.

I think I did ok.

I have a couple of cheap Bulldogs cases too. I would not use them as an airline transport, but for simple transport in my SUV they work great for the price.

Just in case anyone is interested, about a month ago I picked up this Bulldog discreet case from Midway for $25, which is great for an AR pistol or carbines - as long as you don't mind splitting the upper and lower halves.
Bulldog discreet case at Midway

The case has a divider and internal pockets for two magazines.

I might pick up another one, especially is they come out in different colors.

+ 3 for the Pelican. I got a Pelican 1750 for my RRA. Could not pass up the deal. got it for $120 brand new.

They are built like a tank.

I am using a 35" Bulldog for my R-15 CS. Perfect for throwing in the truck, but, I agree, not suitable for checked baggage. Bulldog claims it floats, too. And it was dirt cheap from Natchez.

I'm using a hard sided takedown shotgun case. (if your ar will fit)

My ar has an 18" barrel for reference.
