AR-15 load questions!

Okay so first off, let me say this, i am not an expert in reloading, i know just enough to really want to start reloading, and i have a few close friends that are BIG into reloading.
That being said! I have been shooting some factory loads from my Windham Weaponry Varmint Exterminator, some of the factory loads have been very heavy, while others were extremely light. after about 300 rounds of varied ammunition, i have come up with a good weight for bullets fired through my 1:8 20" barrel. i have deduced that a 70-75 grain bullet gets me much better accuracy than a 40-55 grain round, while the 55-70 grain rounds were decently accurate, they seemed to have an issue getting stable.
anyways! i had one of my long term friends show me a couple loads he's been trying to find the right rifle for. we settled on a load that i personally find absolutely perfect in every way! though i don't know the powder measurements, i would love some input on this load, criticism is always welcome, and suggestions are encouraged!

here's the load from bottom to top:

Lake City Brass

CCI 450 Primers

Varget Powder

Hornady 75gr A-Max

we judged that this round would run us +-$450 to reload 1000, but we don't have ANY form of gun-shops here in town, we have to either have it delivered or have to drive 3 hours to get any supplies, so our cost is hiked a bit.

So, does this load sound reasonable for long range coyote shooting? Are there any suggestions as to powder measurements? would this load be too much for my gun?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Hornady 75 grain AMAX bullet is too long for the AR. You would have to seat the bullet past the ogive to get it below the 2.260 max cartridge overall length required to fit in the magazine. You can shoot the AMAX bullet but you will need to seat the bullet longer than magazine length and load one at a time through the ejection port.

The Hornady 75 grain open tipped match bullet is shorter and will fit in the magazine but I have never been able to obtain acceptable accuracy with them so I use Nosler 77 OTM's.

Dido what has been said.

75gr BTHP works good. The A-Max could cause a lot of problems and could get dangerous as well.

I really like IMR-4007ssc with the 75gr BTHP. Good luck!

+1 for using the 75 grain BTHP... Never saw any 1:8 twist barrels that it wouldnt shoot in..

But here he says he has been shooting them. And shooting them pretty fair I might add.

So jeeper, are ya loading them one at a time or what's the scoop?

Hornady 75gr BTHP with 24.5grs Varget seated to 2.60" with CCI 400 or #41 primers in LC brass is the best in my 1-8" Wilson match barrel. It acts more like a soft point bullet on critters. 60VMax is a close second.

I have been using Hornady 75gr BTHP over 24.5gr Varget in LC brass and Fed match primers seating to 2.273 which is the longest you can seat in a government magazine.

Any where from 23.5 to 24.5 Varget will push them out the barrel. Are you sure they are 75 gr. A Max. They must be seated real deep, to fit in the magazine. I prefer the 68 gr. Hornady HPBT or the Serria 69 Gr. HPBT for the AR and use the 75's in a bolt gun. I would think that the trajectory of the 75's over a wide varity of ranges (100-500) would make it harder to pick an aiming point on, under or over a yote. They are very good bullets, but they are really made for known distance shooting, like target competition.

I've used Jim's load and it is a tack driver.
