AR-15 Trigger for varmint hunting

It depends on what trigger you start with. But with those componets together, it's a great trigger. And much less expensive thn some of the others. $69 for a great trigger.

I just looked at those links
Do you need all of those to make a good trigger?

I have been very happy with using a mil-spec trigger and the jp reduced power springs. If you want to keep the cost down a few more bucks you can leave out the trigger adjuster screw and get a $0.10 1/4" long set screw from a local hardware store that has a good supply of bolts/nuts etc. In the 4 milspec triggers I have done like this they all dropped from 8lbs to 4-4.5lbs and for about $12 they have been plenty good for me.

I have some using the set screw, too. It's just a convenient thing to be able to adjust the with the grip still on. And the ALG trigger is a typical Mil-Spec trigger that has been polished. Otherwise...your system is the same. It's nice that there's no need to stone and polish. JME

Indeed. Another thing to look at is getting up to the $90 mark for free shipping on the order.

How much lighter on average would you say those polished triggers come out? 1/2lb?

I usually get free shipping and shirts when ordering...

I'm not sure it's lighter, but cleaner. No grit...with the adjuster and JP springs I'm right a 3 to 3.5#.

Good to know, Ill have to keep that in mind "for" the next build(notice I didn't say "if"

), might have to order a LPK minus a trigger and try one out for a change of pace.

My Spikes lowers were not threaded all the way through for the grip screw. For non technical people that don't want to run a tap the JBO grip screw makes it easier on those types of lowers as well.

I am new to this site but have shot car's for a couple year now. I am a Rock river 2 stage fan, can bring myself to spend $200+ on trigger. If the Rock river gets rough , I can just install a new one in 5 min and $100. Maybe I don't shoot enough volume but I haven't had any issues with mine yet.

Hard for me to imagine any other trigger in a precision rifle than a Geissele SSA-E. I have shot a JP, RR and Timney and all very nice, the SSA-E is a bit more my cup of tea.

I have a DPMS lower that I only did the JP yellow spring upgrade & its like having a $200 trigger. In my 2 R15's I have drop in timney 3lb & a DPMS two stage, both are equally great for how I use them.

I have been shgooting the BTE drop in the last few months. It is becomimg my favorite trigger over the Timneys I have shot for several years. No match for a a $290.00 Gisselle High Speed but perfect for varmints like PD's etc.

Agree, those things work miracles!

I would have to put my vote in for the 3lb Timney trigger also. It is a simple 10 minute drop in process to install and is a very smooth, clean breaking trigger. I would also highly recommend getting it from Joe Bob's. I live within 15 minutes of Timney but got my trigger $30.00 cheaper from Joe Bob's than Timney lists on their website. With the free shipping and free T-shirt, I feel like it was a tremendous deal. I ordered it on Tuesday afternoon and it was in my mail box on Friday morning. Thanks Joe Bob's. Keep up the good work!

I've been watching this thread, as I've decieded to set up my Bushmaster as a calling rifle. I'd looked at triggers for a while, but this thread convinced me to order the #3 Timney.

Should be here early next week. I hope you guys aren't BSing me!!!!
