I don't think it's a varmint rifle? I saw a deal on it on the military channel last night. It's more of a knock down rifle. They showed it to have 4" drop at 100 yards compared to a 556and a 762x39. I'm sure it'll work fine for coyote but you'd probally get runners if you don't head shoot or break shoulders. That's the way it seams to me

Vickers appeared to have started a diet. He never said what weight the Blackout round was they shooting.

I just started using my 300 Blackout AR carbine for Coyote although I have yet to get one. I was using a 6x45 20 inch barreld AR with a Leupold MK 4 3.5x10 LR/T. I found that scope, even on the lowest setting was often too much magnification for use in the Oregon coast range. A lot of the time I can only see 50 yards or so unless I can find a clear cut to set up on.

My 300 Blackout has a Leupold MK4 1.5x5 MR/T so I began using that instead.

My standard load is 130 Hornady soft points at 2170 FPS. With a 100 yard zero the bullet drops 9 inches at 200 and 24 inches at 300.

I have gotten this bullet up to 2280 FPS with mild pressure signs and excellent accuracy. You could also load a 110 grain bullet like the Barnes Tac-TX or Hornady V-max at velocities approaching 2500 FPS for a flatter trajectory.

I've killed a few grey fox using the Hornady 110gr V-Max, it's kind of explosive, but that's to be expected from a V-Max bullet. I'm dialed at a 100 yards using a 9.5" barrel.

I just got my .300 Blackout last week and haven't had a chance to load any ammo yet for it. Though looking through some load data I am planning on trying 95 grain V-Max's with some Lil Gun powder to start with. By the data that should push the bullet around 2500 fps.

Anyone load any of these before?

Hornady does not make a 95 grain V-Max bullet in .308. The lightest .308 V-Max is 110 grains and the lightest Hornady .308 bullet is the 100 grain short jacket which is unsuitable for the 300 Blackout.

There is a website that had them listed, I will do some searching for it. I know I seen that on here somewhere.

My bad, I must have gotten them confused with my .260 data research. You are correct 110 V Max is the lightest .308 bullet. I did see a 100 grain short jacketed bullet, whatever that is.

Yes the 300 BLK is capable of short range coyote hunting. The 30 cal bullet does deliver the goods well but in my test case of "one" it did not deliver the shock and awe that you see with the 223 on a coyote based platform. The dog fell over but had its eyes open for a few minutes after.

Distance 40 yards. (I have posted the pic before). I did switch scopes from Millet DMS to a 1x5 with standard reticle because I missed a shot from 100 I think because of the reticle. It is easier to use a crosshair than a circle on such a small target IMO.

What load were you using? I see you were shooting suppressed? Subsonic 208 or 220?
