AR Lube???

Lube for the BCG? Man, I try to stay away from lubes with a thick consistency, and even rem-oil sometimes on my AR.

Personally I use Remington Dry Lube a lot. Its that teflon spray in a small green can. I spray the carrier, the bolt, and the inside of the upper with it. Light or heavy coat doesn't seem to matter, I'm more concerned about cold weather performance a lot of the time.
 
Don't try to over-think it. Any good quality oil will work; it doesn't have to be $8 an ounce 'wonder-oil!' Many folks use Mobil 1 5-W-30 synthetic motor oil. ATF will work just fine, as will any number of other oils.

I've mostly went to a dry lube in mine also. The very fine talcum like powder we must drive/walk/crawl in around here gets into every nook and cranny possible. Wet lubes are like a magnet to this crap. I've found dry or no lube at all is best in our conditions.
 
3 in 1 oil/atf/5w30 oil/ wd40/cooking oil, even spit works in a bind...keep it lightweight and anything will work on it.
 


I just use CLP. I wet everything down before shooting. Clean up is easy.

I learned 45 years ago not to fire an M16 dry. The Sargent mixed up some oil that we used. If you used to much it smoked a little, but are rifles worked.
 
CLP here, sure its spendy but the bottle I have right now has cleaned/lubed my AR, 10/22, and pistol many a times and its still over half full, think I bought it 3 years ago?

Just bought an aerosol can of it, now before I go shooting the AR if I am shooting massive amounts ill give the gas rings a little squirt. Boy clean up is sure easy!
 
Lube job on an AR is different for punching paper and hunting. IMO If your shooting a lot a wet lube is the way to go.

If your AR is used for hunting only then IMO you need to use a light coat of dry lube on a regular basis. I like to wipe mine down every week and dry lube lightly for the week to come.

My season is 44-46 weeks long and I have never had any problems using this system.
 
TW-25B, on all of my rifles especially my AR's. It was good enough to keep my mini-guns running in A-stan, as well as my rifle there, and works awesome stateside. I live and hunt in southwest Nebraska where it is hot, dry and dusty in the summer, and winter temps often fall well below 0. Never had a f to f due to lube issues with it. I still bring it with me to the qual range every range year, and use it on my weapon their, and on my younger soldiers weapons when they have issues, and hopefully before an incompetent RO gives their rifle the squirt gun CLP bath....
 
TW-25 here too. And I'll mix it with some MC3000 in the winter to keep it from getting too thick. The stuff is stupid slippery. And I use CLP for regular cleaning and let a thin layer sit for protection. Very thin layer or CLP.
 
Iv been using FP-10 it stays in the gun and since iv started using it the gun cleans up faster it dont let the carbon hold on like inside the locking lug. Before i got FP-10 I was use 3in1 and 5w30. If i was in sandy area blowing out 1k rounds an hour i would want a dryer lube.
 
There are a million different oils/lubes that will work good for a AR15, I have used Lucas oil gun lube, CLP, rem oil etc etc and all did an ok job. A decent solvent is good to use on the bore/chamber but everything else don't really matter what you use

Although it will work, the rem oil would be the only one I wouldn't recommend for an AR, it seemed to get dirtier and dry out much faster than others. I shoot anywhere from 2500-4000 round a year and I can see a difference in any of the other oils to make a difference. Basic CLP has been doing just fine for 40+ years in the field

I have even used 10w40 motor oil in a pinch to help a girl out whose rifle was so dry & dirty it had quit cycling properly. The motor oil worked just as well as the high dollar "firearm specific" stuff....just lightly coated with a clean rag and she was up and running
