I am thinking of putting my own ar together but it has to be california legal, I dont want the baynet lug or flash hider I would like a folding stock and pistol type grip. What stripped lower should I get can I go with the bullet button and have all the evil features? it gets confusing with all the laws just hope someone can help point me in the right direction thanks.

Plenty of info on this here. A search will show it. The most important thing is that the lower must have a fixed magazine of no more than 10 rounds. If 10 rounds is not enough, you need a belt fed weapon and none of them are legal in CA as far as I know.

I have a FAB-10 with 24 inch barrel in .223 cal. that is legal in California. It has a closed bottom mag. that holds 10 rounds max. The only thing I don't like about it is that the rifle has to be "broken open" to load, or unload. Other than that it's a good shooter.

Good luck and have fun finding what you want.
