AR Receiver lapping Tool?

Have many of you home AR builders use them?

Which one?

Have any of you ever seen a real accuracy improvement with an upper that wasn't performing up to expectations?

Thanks..

I dont think it helps much if at all with accuracy. It will help center your bore to the upper sometimes. A decent upper and you wont have any issues anyway.

i have the brownells tool. I use it just for peice of mind helps me shoot better since you know shootings all in the mind

Ritch does everyone he builds using a,PT&G tool same same, from Brownells. It's hard to visualize a few 0.001's so he does them all and let the targets sort them out. It has also been shown that an out of square upper/barrel assembly can cause unequal stress on the bolt causing lug failure. More so in the non-223 versions but IMHO every little bit helps.

I bought one last year after talking to Ritch because I had a 6.8 that I built and was having accuracy problems. He suggested a load and I asked about squaring the receiver. Between the 2 things I went from 2" groups to 1/2" - 3/4" groups. I have since done all my AR's.
