ar riser mount question

I have a ar-15 pistol with a Nikon scope. it currently has a .50 riser and medium rings on it. problem is I still only get half a scope picture unless I press down hard on my cheek to get a full picture.
question is do I go to .75 or 1" riser.

I would go with the one inch Riser because you could always attach low rings. Or you could try using the 3/4 inch riser and add High Rings if you have to. I fought the same battle that you're fighting a couple years ago and I finally gave up and went to the dedicated AR mounts. I really like the Nikon P-Series for the money.

Use an ar specific one piece mount and forget about all that other garbage.

Burris pepr, vortex cantilever, leupold, etc. I like my vortex mount the best and the leupold looks very similar.

My starting rule of thumb is 3 inches between center lines.
This is my pistol it is at 2 3/4 inches.

Agree with the dedicated AR mounts!!! Also, the Burris Extreme Tactical rings in Extra High work well on an AR...about the right height.
 
+1 for the dedicated AR mount. Even with risers and rings you never really get the ideal picture. Go with the mount and never look back.
 
I have 2 ar's one with rings and one with the dedicated ar mount. Hands down the ar mount is the way to go. I don't like the eye relief with the rings I have and it's just not right.
 
I'm for just getting a dedicated ar mount. It'll end up saving on weight. And you know it will be the right height. Plenty of good options out there and the prices aren't bad either.
 
go with the one piece mount, its the only way to go and if you have the money the quick disconnect mounts like the ones from American defense manufacturing(ADM)are really nice. the Burris PEPR mounts are a bit on the heavy side I prefer Leupold or weaver but really like my ADM mount. aero precisions lightweight mounts are nice but a [beeep] to get the crosshairs lined up level. here are some pics of the mounts.

That’s so true about the Aero mounts. It is pretty hard to get the crosshairs level because of the way it clamps onto the scope tube. Once it’s all set they’re pretty great though.
 
those aero precision mounts look so thin, I can't trust one. the way the ring splits at the bottom doesn't leave me warm and fuzzy. I guess they work. I wish they had just put a tad more metal in them and gave up an ounce or so in weight.
